MF Interview: A Conversation With A Motoring Advisor
Two weeks ago we had the chance to interview Tony Poulson, Motoring Advisor at [MINI of Murray](http://www.miniofmurray.com). We’ve been wanting to have a conversation with a Motoring Advisor for some time and this gave us the opportunity to cover a number of interesting topics. Among other things, we learned what makes a great MA and the misconceptions some us have regarding car salesmen. Tony also happens to be a great artist so don’t forget to check out his [material](http://thetonus.bigcartel.com/).

That was interesting. The one note that interests me was about his statement about customers going out of state, or to a larger area to buy. Guess I’m one of those, as I have bought both of my MINI’s from the Chicago area. Yup, a six hour drive, give or take, and I like it. Why? On account of that I feel that I’ve got a lot of my break in miles accomplished by the time I get back to Des Moines. Yes, we have a Des Moines dealer, but well, the way that I am treated, the advice that I get plus the money factor, well, I feel that it’s worth it. It’s not to say that my local dealer is a bad dealer, far from it, I think that their service department is top notch. The guy that does the wrapping of my clear bra, and this next time I’m going to have the top done in a carbon fibre wrap, and maybe some other things, he’s fantastic.
This time, I’ll be using another dealer, probably a lot like Mini of Murray, as Maria changed dealerships, and is at a smaller and independent dealer, rather than a chain. We work well together, and she knows me by now, as she has always complimented me on my building of a MINI, and has used that to have store ordered MINI’s. Example: Rear Fog Lights. Fills the hole within the toggle switch.

I was/am one of those out of state buyers back in 03 during the initial feeding frenzy when dealers charged way over sticker. I live in Houston and at the time nobody wanted to do sticker except a BMW/Mini dealer in Baton Rouge. Six years later I also bought my current BMW from them.

No non-flash version? Given the security situation with flash at the moment, a safer alternative would be welcome.
