According to internal documents MotoringFile has seen, MINI USA has proactively identified an issue with the new MINI convertible’s soft top. Because of this the launch of the car will be pushed back to launch (sales) date to April 15th.
We’re told the issue was relatively minor and MINI USA has currently in the process of implementing a quality enhancement to the roof ahead of the launch. What exactly the issue is remains unknown at this time.
We expect to see the Cooper and Cooper S Convertibles at dealerships in small volumes in late March. However note that sales will not be allowed until that magical April 15th date.
Lets hope the 15th is sunny with no rain in sight.

Minor? I think it is the same issue as in Europe. In some recent situations, the rear window in the softtop tends to fall out. During the launch here in Holland, on the 4th of march, nobody was allowed to have a test drive with it. Production flaw. I’ve read it on a German mini forum and my dealer confirmed the story.

We heard it was window related as well but haven’t been able to confirm it. Thanks for the info!
