As anticipated, MINIUSA won’t be bringing the highly anticipated DCT transmissions to the US this year. But this news doesn’t come from secret sources. This comes via Automotive News and MINIUSA VP Thomas Felbermair.
This formal confirmation matches with what our sources hinted at a few months ago in our initial reporting.
We’re looking at maybe later on, but it’s not decided yet,” Thomas Felbermair told Automotive News at the Detroit auto show. “In the U.S., we stay with the existing transmission.”
As expected the reasons are technical and relate to homologating the DCT for U.S. regulations. At this point MINIUSA isn’t giving a time table for its US a release.

Well, that really sucks.

So… it’s well into 2019 now. Where is the DCT in the USA?
