What happens when you drop an electric drivetrain into a classic Mini? Apparently nothing less than joy on wheels. The electric classic Mini by Swind is the car and in this video Carpervert takes it out to understand what it’s like when you bring a classic Mini into the 21st century.
What is the Swind Mini? To start with it’s a £79,000 classic Mini that packs a 24kWh battery and a 110hp electric motor. It has a range 125 miles, 80 mph top speed and a 0-60 time of 9.2 seconds. What’s interesting it that the weight is only 176 lbs more than the original car – a fairly small increase given what’s been added.
Other interesting facts. Because there’s no gas tank, trunk space has been increased and a drunk (front trunk) is also an option for customer. Other options include heated leather seats, front and rear heated screens, underfloor heating USB charging points, infotainment and sat-nav system, power steering, full-length sliding fabric roof, air conditioning and a range of bespoke exterior colors. Head over to Swind for more details.
I would give my right arm to have an electric Classic Mini!
