Real Mini Racing at The Goodwood Revival

There is nothing like seeing MINIs on the track. Unless of course you can watch Minis. This year the Good Revival featured Mini as its “featured marque” and held a very special race that was televised on itv in the UK. While the overall video (around 5 minutes long) is impressive enough, the in car footage after the jump are even more fascinating.

Outstanding racing among a stellar field of drivers with some exciting overtaking maneuvers and saves! Love the light back ends of those classic Minis skating around the high speed corners of Goodwood.

I’ve never seen Mini racing like that, and I was truly impressed. I noticed friend of MotoringFile Rauno Aaltonen finished in a respectable 4th place. Surprised the commentators never once mentioned the famous rally driver’s name…

Loved the part where they were running 3 Minis wide, flat-out!

Any details on how the cars were prepared? Did they use a batch of repro Mk1 shells? What a sweet sounding motor – must be pulling close to 7500 revs. Ahhhh Longmans song!
