Official information on what will apparently be titled “The Brazilian Job” has finally shown up on IMDB.com. We’re not sure if MINI’s will be involved (and rumors say no) but it’s worth a mention considering MINI’s long history with the series.

Don’t be surprised if they use new Fiat 500 cars. The original Michael Caine film was under pressure from Fiat with a big offer of cars and cash but they chose Minis instead. Maybe Fiat will use this as a intro to their new car???
It wouldn’t be the same without MINI but after all it is The Brazilian Job, not Italian Job 3.
I suppose it all depends on what they’re trying to steal this time around. With the seats removed, the MINI can hold quite a bit. If they’re kidnapping people, then it may be a tight fit in the back. It wouldn’t be the same without the MINI.
dont make a sequel without keeping the MINI.
Call it something else entirely, use other actors, or better yet, save the money… If they don’t use MINI’s and have the same actors, and sell it as a sequel, I will save my money for something else.
Great. Because the second film was so much better than the original… :/ Why develop a new plot and characters when there is a reasonable probability that a formula which made good money one time will make not quite as good, but profitable, money in a sequel? There’s no business like show business? Think again.
They shouldn’t make a sequel period, they tend to kill originals, if Hammer and Coop already has not.
I can’t wait.

I know you’re talking about movies, but it’s still interesting to see this comment on a site about the new MINI.
i just think “The Brazilian Job” is just a weird name… but this movie would be a perfect opportunity for mini to highlight what the r56 can do. The fiat’s are pretty cool, but the mini is as much part of the movie as the actors are. without them wouldn’t be much of a true sequel anyways.
I’m afraid “Brazilian job” only conjures up images of a certain kind of waxing – don’t these people check for common usage examples before deciding on names? Rumors are going both ways, I understand, so mebbe MINIs are in, mebbe not. Hafta use Fiat 500s that are Abarth’ed to the max if they want to come close to the bar set by the first two. Wondering if Gray will direct without much computer enhancement, as before. Nice to see an Oscar winner and a nominee would sign up for a mere sequel, tho.

There is no comparison between the Michael Caine IT Job and the Mark Walburg IT Job. It’s a bit like comparing Peter Sellers Pink Panther and the remake with Steve Martin. The same but different and something got lost in both remakes.
Anyway – it’s not the Italian Job – it’s the Brazilian Job. As Willy Shakespeare wrote – “would a rose by any other name smell as sweet?”
Am I the only one who hated the Walberg version of this movie? It was crap. Sure, it had some coopers but that is it. Edward Norton was a horrible bad guy, and I love him as an actor.
I am thinking that this new movie will be more of the same, and of course they will not use mini’s. Like the transporter 2 they will go with another car for the “film”
I will NOT see this movie.
Title sounds kinky.
I predict the sequel will go the opposite direction, and use the original Hummer, and will show them utilizing brute force to accomplish their objectives as opposed to the finesse the Minis showed.
I think the remake was a GREAT movie… maybe not up everyone’s alley, but it is hands down what got me interested in buying a MINI every time I saw it, and in fact I ripped the MINI scenes off the DVD onto my iPod whenever I need a reminder of why I’m waiting 7 months for my car.
It’s a fun movie, great action, I just don’t understand what people would find lacking in the movie. It’s not intended to be arthouse cinema. As a summer movie, it fit the bill quite well as being fun, light, & entertaining. I wasn’t expecting “On Golden Pond.”
Transporter 2 was way better than 1. It would be cool if he drives an R56 in 3. Of course he could only be transporting something like a Jack Russell terrier.
“The BJ” featuring the Clubman!
I doubt they’ll stay with the MINI (they don’t want the public to think this is more of the same, and they’ll do that by spotlighting a different car) but it sure would be fun.

oh my this is going downhill fast….lol
You lost me at rumor says no,
again… why?
I can not remember where, but I heard it may be the new Volvo C-30.
I liked both Italian Job movies and I like the Volvo c-30 (at least what I have seen of it), but they just don’t go together.
The terrain covered in this film would kill a MINI.
Ever drive through Brasil?
The european scenics in the film will sport a few MINI cameos… but don’t look for more than that.
Should they use Obvio’s?
As long as Jason Statham is in… so am I.
Yum.
This isn’t really new, it’s been on imdb for at least 2 years or more.
What I’d like to see is Edward Norton’s character comeback as a mutant blob of human flesh to exact revenge on Croker and his crew. Remember in the Italian Job’s ending? His character was taken away to be introduced to the “machinery”. Now a bolt of lighting brings his flesh back to life, but with a twist. He can now telepathically control an army of Mini Coopers. How awesome would this be ????
I agree with GregW, the original with Michael Caine was a much better, and different, film.
