This is the same converted MCS that Hybrid Technologies built that we saw last week. This time, more in car video and a different reviewer. Also, a little bit of information about their converted Smart Car.

If she considers a regular mini to be gas guzzling, I wonder what she drives.
Does motoringfile do its driving tests in stillettos too? 🙂
Gotta love it when reporters do their research. She calls it “the BMW MINI” and then refers to the regular Cooper as “gas guzzling” – wow.
Interesting to see some of the interior bits – doesn’t look like they’re quite seamlessly integrated into the original equipment. Seems like if I were going to buy a $60,000 electric car, I’d expect a little better fit and finish. Cool technology though.
I think Motoringfile should test drive these cars for the once of us who are willing to sell out the cash don’t you think?
I like the part, “..and it has this button here that they told me do not touch…” so she touches it! 😀
It’s an R53? I hear they’re working on an R56 that runs on quiche.
I think what she meant by ‘gas-guzzling’ was that it uses gas instead of electricty. A poor choice of words on her part, but she certainly doesn’t seem like a motorhead.
I’m wondering, what effect does the use of the stereo, A/C and heater have on the range of an electric car?

I wondered about that myself. You’ve got to throw the power steering in there too. I wonder if the fact that the MINI already has an electric power steering pump made it a more-ideal candidate for an electric conversion in their minds?
I did love her “It sounds like the Jetson’s” comment. I’ve heard that when the Tesla is all wound up the sound is amazing.
It’s funny how we all immediately caught the “gas guzzling” comment. I would agree with Kyle, I felt that she made a poor choice of words in rushing to describe driving electric vs. gas cars without really thinking what she was driving a MINI.
Well so far very interested but what is the take home price?
