This one came into the MF mailbox this week and hit most of the automotive web last week. And since we know MotringFile readers seem to love the Nurburgring, it seemed appropriate for a Video Friday post. A Pagani Zonda F made a turn in a little more than 7:27. For those who don’t know, that’s really fast. How fast? Take a look below after the jump.
few questions!
1. what are usual average times at the ring?
2. what was Gabe’s average time? 🙂
3. when these records are attempted is the ring usually clear of traffic? or was this a special event?
I know both generation of Cooper S’s can do the ‘Ring in under 9 minutes but I can’t remember the exact times. A magazine had them at 14 seconds apart last year but the official difference I believe is actually just four seconds.
>what was Gabe’s average time? 🙂
I only recorded one lap and that was my fourth time around! It was in a stock ’07 MCS and I wasn’t really pushing hard. But… it was right around 9:30.
Keep in mind breaking 10 minutes on your first day in a normal car is something to be happy about. There’s tons of traffic!
Also keep in mind that the public day records that most people talk about are actually a little shorter than the actual track distance that the
Pagani did. I’m guessing the difference could be like 7-10 seconds.
Yeah that’s the thing to remember and the thing that amazes me. Not only is he insanely fast at matching revs etc, but the car revs so freely. Incredible stuff.
I wish they had a little box with the speedo on the other side of the course layout.
I also saw him bobble a bit a few times. I bet that gets the heart going. (not that he was not already on the edge enough to get teh old blood flowing)
>I like your vid even better. Don’t know the time but it seemed faster while watching.
That’s a classic (and official) BMW M3 GTR video with Hans Stuck at the wheel. I have a full screen resolution lying around somewhere. Highly recommended!
That is UNGODLY fast. I envy that man…
“Some say the outline of hie left nipple is almost identical to the shape of the Nurburgring…”
-Jeremy Clarkson, about the Stig
Wow
wish we could see more of the road and less of the dash…
very cool …

I’m speechless !
Bring on the Koenigsegg CCX!
w/o paddle shift, no less.

Sweet sound track too. I loved the little blip following the course around the stop watch.

meant… King-O-The Ring
I actually got in just under the 6 minute mark, but that was while driving a BMW LMR V12 – playstation – GT4 was the game.
Nice video, but not as fast as this M3…..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL7T9BD_Q3k#GU5U2spHI_4
