Most of you that attended any of the MTTS events I’m sure noticed a small group of people that were covered in cameras or behind the lens. They were the official photographers for MTTS.
After many bumps, bruises and tickets (who knew it was illegal to stand up inside a moving car?), they have finished processing thousands of photos and have them available for purchase online. They are a bit expensive, but I have been told the prints will be very high quality. Besides, can you really put a price on memories?
I guess I didn’t realize they were being paid to include everyone in attendance. Or their cars. That said, I found myself in four shots in the Los Angeles sets.
They lined us up on the front straight at Homestead like they were going to do an aerial photo of the group just like at St. Louis in 2006. I didn’t see any included in the Miami batches. Anyone know if any aerials were done?
I was not seeking to have pics of me or my car posted by them, but in the Miami album I see tons of pics of basically the same cars over and over again. Not taking away credit from those cars as they deserve the spotlight, but there were more of us there and it is generally a huge disservice to the event.
Tsize: That was my impression too. Overall, I am disappointed with the MIA photo set.
C4: I noticed the same thing from the Los Angeles set, where some cars were overly represented. Some of that I think was the result of being in front and behind certain cars in traffic and those were the cars that got featured.
In the old days of film, they might have not taken so many photos of one car because of the expense, but in the digital age it appears they took more individual photos and published all of them.
I see the same thing in Chicago pics. The problem is that they were limiting themselves by getting in one car and then taking 300 photos of the cars in front of and behind them. Same with the shots of the line ups. almost all of them were from the front or the back of the line. I would think they could have had the opportunity to take at least one of every car there.
expensive is an understatement. I don’t think I have ever seen high enough quality in a photo to justify 20 bucks for an 8×10 and 30 bucks for a mug. JMHO
There were a couple nice shots of my car on the track at Elkhart Lake though (NY-NC 10429-1551/1552) maybe 20 bucks is worth it? hmmmm… 🙂
I was very dissapointed in this L A run. My wife talked about it since we bought her new mini until the weekend came. She has never experienced this kind of event, I myself have ridden in all sorts of rides on my harley, now I thought my wife could experience the thrill in her mini. The ride from LA to the first stop was a disorganized dissaster. A few of us got in the lead group, with the help of a few LA police cars they stopped some of the first lights, no pictures to prove it were taken by mini usa though, then after the police assistance dissapeared we all scattered together towards the first stop. The photography was poorly done, the route was poorly set up, the rose bowl activities were poorly set up. All in all we were very upset that our weekend, that we prepaid months in advance, was such a dissapointment for the wife and I. If you do have another rally please do not invite us to it because we will be busy, out driving with our top down enjoying the California sun.

I wonder if they will correct the lighting on some of the photos offered once sold? Some are pretty dark. AP CS3 works wonders. LOL
when newscast people were in the MTTS MCC they did not get a ticket!
They shot out of my MINI with a 1080p video camera on the way down to Chicago!
Very sad, I was in LA (although late to every event) on Friday and Saturday and I can’t find me in any of the pictures. At least I have my memories. 😉
The Miami photo set is very lousy IMHO. They left out a lot of people and a lot of different cars that were on attendance.

MikeC… I think you could have sent in your own, if you had any. Not sure if that’s still open though.
Sowellman.. which ones?

The second one is the best. I’m at the front of a group of cars coming around a curvy section of the Angeles Crest on Sunday.
I must have missed you at Jillian’s.

Two words “Amateur Photographer”
