The VLN series is closely associated with the 24 Hours Nürburgring and features many of the same participants. That means everything from Ferraris, M3 GT2 race cars and 20+ year old BMWs. However this year the series will be featuring all of that plus one insanely modified MINI racecar. The Schirra MINI above (photographed by Oliver Wegen via Bigblogg) features who knows what pumping out God knows what kind of power. But we love it, the way it looks and the fact it’ll be at the ‘Ring with the big boys.

No other info? mods?

I wonder did they make that body kit up themselves? or where did it come from?

Where can I get a pair of those side mirrors?? Suh-weet!!

Very nice! I second the love for the aero kit!! Keep the details coming :D

Upon further review (see page 1 of the pictures), the @$$ end leaves something to be desired……. :(

V. nice!

they are making the bodykit by temselves. it’s the 3rd evolution in 1.5 years. fenders, bonnet, the whole body is made from carbon fiber. the MINI weights under 1.000kg and has 320hp based on the stock JCW engine (due to the class regulations). last year they finished in the top 20 (200 participants) encircled by 911s, Vipers, Corvettes and M3s. it’s a real sleeper and popular in germany.

I seem to remember seeing a highly modded orange painted R56 in the photos of the last Mini United event – and the front air damn on that Mini looked very much like the one here on this grey racing car.

Do they have any relation to that car? Photo from DBs flickr:

If that doesn’t look like a bulldog I don’t know that a bulldog looks like a bulldog…hilarious.

want to drive this on the road :)

That thing looks angry. Awesome!

so if it’s still the jcw engine, is it still fwd?

Very Very cool…
the rear bumper looks crap…I can respect hand made fibreglass projects, however this does not get the SIDEWAYS seal of approval…it makes Baby Jesus Cry ;(

really? everybody isn’t eating up that rear diffuser/front splitter action?

the Schirra MINI has nothing in common with the orange aWorx MINI from DBs gallery. all parts are not for sale and yes, the car still has FWD combined with a full adjustable LSD and sequential gearbox. it is really a high developed car from a small team with less support from BMW. just watch a last years lap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mamf6gEIWc the interesting thing is: all drivers told us the car is fast but not a beast and easy to handle with lots of grip.

however this does not get the SIDEWAYS seal of approval…it makes Baby Jesus Cry ;(

It looks purposeful and since it’s stupid fast, I won’t question it. As long as it isn’t as painfully ugly as the Gumpert Apollo, I’m fine with it. That is the benchmark of ugly race cars.

Great looking race car! Paint scheme reminiscent of the GP… Would love to see this tear up the course against Porsches, M3’s and the like… overachieving underdogs always get my vote! :)

Racing pedigree for sure. Can I have three, please :)
