MINI JCW GP to be Offered in Raffle at Pebble beach

The JCW GP. A special car about to be even more special for one lucky raffle winner. MINI USA will be giving one GP away via a raffle (proceeds going to the Animal Friends Rescue Project) at the famed Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The winner will be flown to the UK and pick up the GP (one of the first off the line at Oxford) at the plant.
Details after the break.
Official Release: The fastest MINI ever, a.k.a the 2013 MINI John Cooper Works GP, will be offered as an Official Pebble Beach Raffle prize during the 2012 Concours d’Elegance. The winner will be the first named owner of the highly sought-after, iconic MINI vehicle.
“Only 2,000 of these vehicles will be built, so the winner will be taking ownership of an immediate collectible,” said Jim McDowell, Vice President MINI USA. “The MINI John Cooper Works GP is a great fit as the raffle prize for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance; both are a celebration of speed, style and automobile heritage.”
In addition to the new MINI John Cooper Works GP, the winner will be treated to a special delivery at the MINI John Cooper Works GP’s place of origin, the MINI plant in Oxford, England. The trip will include a tour of the MINI production facility, round-trip airfare for two people from any major U.S. city, as well as two nights of hotel accommodations in Oxford.
Raffle tickets can be purchased for $100 each during the weekend activities August 18 and 19, and will be sold in the Concours d’Elegance Office and at the MINI John Cooper Works GP display (located outside the Concours Office on Saturday and on the Main Show Field on Sunday). The winning ticket will be drawn on Sunday, August 19 in the late afternoon during the Awards Ceremony on the Main Show Field. Proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Animal Friends Rescue Project (http://www.animalfriendsrescue.org) and Natividad Medical Foundation (www.natividadfoundation.org).
The MINI John Cooper Works GP will officially go on sale in the U.S. beginning in September 2012 and can be ordered through a MINI dealer. U.S. pricing and specifications will be announced in the coming weeks.

Does “officially on sale in the U.S. beginning in September 2012” mean that’s when the order guide is released? or when deliveries begin?
I’m supposed to be getting the first one from my local dealer and the last thing he had heard was November/December production and deliveries starting in January.

Orders being accepted in September but will follow the time frame that your dealer told you.

Same – just watched a video about it here:

The ‘well over 40k’ worries me, but I think it’s just a guess.

Can’t wait to get mine.

Won’t be there. Would buy raffle tickets though. C’mon MINI!

I didn’t have any problems buying a raffle ticket. Just went to charity website and followed their instruction listed.

same for me – just went to the charity website, emailed them, and bought the ticket over the phone.

Deeply, deeply disappointed that tickets will only be made available to attendees.
