First, thanks to all of our Philly MINI peeps for returning the boys safely to their respective homes. Very glad a good time was had by all and Todd was able to work his magic, including this fine [roof graphic](https://scontent-1.22773.fna.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/11079629_10152654607660213_4939700531629943483_n.jpg?oh=f2aaff14ef18623d1b1d4ba36fa89366&oe=55B4237B). After more Philly love, and a shout out to our man Big Jack for for helping to support the show, we do move into news of the week from MotoringFile. Oh, you know you want to [nerd out about the Mackinac Bridge](http://www.mackinacbridge.org/about-the-bridge-8/). Go ahead, we won’t tell.
For those of you that play the home game, you already know about db’s new bike. But in talking about that, it got us to talking about hauling stuff on the roof with your MINI. Looking for the R56 rack? Click the image above. Looking for other options, [MINIdoMore](http://www.mnidomore.com/) has your covered!

Bicycles?! Who knew.

I won’t bore everyone with bike recommendations (my obsession), but I will say that you get what you pay for, like everything in life. Buy a great bike…you will never regret it.

FWIW, new Cooper Bikes – yes, that Cooper – can be picked up on eBay for about half price.

On racks, if not OEM, there are many good options. However, they all come with tradeoffs. Wind noise, boot-related inconvenience, etc. NAM has tons of threads discussing the options.

In terms of specific brands, Thule and Yakima offer great roof mount solutions as well as boot-mounted options. The Saris Bones rack is another good looking boot-mount rack with a great price point.

I have the Thule Aero roof rack (sort of recommended) with two bike Barracuda bike racks (recommended) and a Thule roof box (recommended). I only use the roof box on long trips, and I take the Thule Aero rack off when I don’t need it. Most of the time I simply fold the seats and put my bike inside the MINI when I’m not riding from home.

Thanks for your feedback Matthew!

Someone should start a petition to raise money to buy DB 18″ tires.. Once you go 18″, you never go back.
