Two weeks ago we got our first official look at the all new J01 electric MINI Cooper and in a sense the future of the MINI brand. However almost all of the photos thus far have been on a MINI Cooper SE in Blazing Blue and what MINI calls “Favoured” Trim (yes it’s a terrible name). What we haven’t seen is the look new JCW Trim that adds a JCW appearance package to any MINI. Until today.
First off we have to admit we’re not huge fans of JCW appearance packages with no substance. It’s all bark with no bite and it definitely could be argued it dilutes the JCW brand a bit. But to each their own. If you want pay for your base MINI Cooper E to look like a JCW, MINI will gladly take your money and make you happy.
Looking at the car you can see there’s a distinctly more aggressive look thanks to the new aerokit. The front splitter literally is split with an interesting center separation that is certainly distinct. The side has some subtle horizontal lines that appear functionless which of course is a bit head scratching given how MINI has gone to great lengths to connect design elements to functional needs. However things get much better on the side with a subtle side skirt.
Around back things get even more interesting with an aggressive looking diffuser and almost GP-like rear wing.
What’s Comes on the MINI Cooper with JCW Trim?
Similar to BMW’s M Sport trim, JCW Trim has a distinctive front and rear design that will echo the look of the full JCW. The frame of the front grille and the logo in high-gloss black are unique to this trim. Additionally the JCW Trim will offer a Chili Red roof for the first time on a non-JCW car. Finally JCW bonnet stripes will be offered in Chili Red or black. Inside, the JCW Trim offers multi-colored knitted textile and black synthetic leather with red stitching.
The JCW Trim will be optional across the range and will not correspond with any performance improvements. However who do expect it to be very closely aligned in design to the forthcoming electric JCW which we should see for 2025.

I have already made up my mind that my next new MINI will be the F66 Cooper S, and I shall be more than happy with the revised 7-spd auto gearbox. I shall not, however, be ordering the optional fixed glass sunroof!
As a matter of interest, according to MINI’s product line boss Stefen Floeck, although the two versions of the new MINI Cooper will be on different platforms, they have been developed to offer similar handling and performance.
Stefan Floeck said in an interview with Autocar, “You will see the differences when you drive a combustion-engined car and an electric car. Normally, combustion cars have a slightly higher maximum velocity, but in terms of acceleration they are not so good. I’ve already driven both versions of the new Coopers, and the driving dynamics and feeling, even though it’s a different feeling when it comes to the go-kart feeling, is pretty much similar. It’s amazing.”
Any Idea …WHEN we’ll get our first look at the Mini Cooper E?
Base trim without all the fancy nonsense……
The lack of news is deafening
MINI showed a yellow Cooper E outside of the Munich IAA last week. You might find photos via google.
I’ve seen the yellow Cooper E online. It looks great, but I don’t think this trim will be coming to the US if that’s where you live. Correct me if I’m wrong Gabe.
There’s no plans for either officially but if I had to guess the lower range on the Cooper E would preclude it from coming once they’re made in the UK.
Thank You for the info and the dialogue
Can’t find the pictures,if you have a good link please post it.
I’d be ok with the SE if there is a clean simple minimalist version coming next year to US
plain dash
2 spoke wheel
simple black seats
16″ wheel (i like the Sq light wheels seen in winter testing)
Do i have a chance Gab?
Thank You Again !
Roman, I hope the attached will be of some help to you.
