A few months back we told you about MINI’s plan to revamp it’s color line-up by making some big changes.
Gone for 2011
First Lets recap what was reported on MF earlier this year. MINI is eliminating the following (starting with 2011 production):
– British Racing Green Metallic
– Dark Silver
– Nightfire Red
– Interchange Yellow (gone 12/2010)
Additionally out (according to our friends at Bigblogg):
– Sparkling Silver (will be MC only)
– Pure Silver
New for 2011
Now let’s take a look at what’s new for 2011 as previously reported (after the jump)
– British Racing Green Metallic II (replacing BRG and reportedly lighter with hints of yellow)
– (Updated) Orange Spice (available on the R57 and R56)
– Eclipse Grey (as we predicted this replaces Dark Silver on the MCS)
– Hot Chocolate (reported earlier this year – being extended to all models)
Now the two additions to this list courtesy of Bigblogg:
– White Silver (available on all models)
– (Updated)Ice Blue (available starting December 2010 on all models)
Six colors in total are being replaced for the 2011 refresh, the most MINI has ever replaced without replacing models. It’s also clear that MINI is trying to keep things fresh while adding

Sad they’re ditching Nightfire Red. It was by far my favorite color on the MINI, and I wish they would have offered it on the S.

Sad to see (the best) color go…Dark Silver. I will wait to see its replacement in person before I get too upset.

So, the White Silver is the same as is available on the Camden? I’m definitely seeing an R59 in White Silver in my future!

It’s a shame MINI is making White Silver available on all models. The color had been limited to the Sidewalk and Camden packages, making it somewhat special. I’m disappointed to hear it’s going to be just another MINI color. And yes, my Camden is White Silver.

Also will miss Nightfire red here. Probably the only color that would have inspired me to fork out extra for a metallic color on an S, but was not offered.

I think mixing the colors up every few years is a good thing.
Also see no problem re-using old first gen retired colors on future models. Keeps things interesting!

Sad to see they are not bringing back mellow yellow. It was kind of yeah it’s mellow and nice and then BAM all you see is smoke from the twin gunners!!! Glad to see that fake yellow green nasty phlegm like color

I’m waiting to see what BRGII looks like. But if it’s lighter than BRG, we may have an Orange Spice R57 in our future.

My translation of the BigBlogg entry from German (using Google and Babelfish) says that Sparkling Silver is being discontinued only on the S models.

I think there is some hope, from that photo, that Ice Blue is non-metallic. Wouldn’t that be peachy?

I wonder if Ice Blue is close to the Gulf blue. That might be sweet with some orange stripes.

Minipuma is correct, BigBlogg states that Sparkling Silver is discontinued only on the S models.

BigBlogg also states that Spice Orange is not available on the R55, meaning it would be available on all other models.

Interchange Yellow was a loser from the start. No tears for that “yellow”

Hopefully the orange spice is spicy and not too red

I love the current Dark Silver. I hope the new color isn’t “Mitsubishi” Eclipse Grey

I want Laser Blue, so its all good for me!

Thank you for dropping IY MINI, make my R57 a little more rare.

I agree with SMP, what’s up with those special edition colors making it to the regular models???

Ho Hum…

I thought the non-metallic BRG used on the WC50 was a sure thing. D@mn!

… hmph,… I’ll stick with my R53 Thank You!!!!

White Silver should be nice, but the Spice Orange would be my first choice for my upcoming JCW. Wonder what the White Silver would look like with a Chili Red roof and mirrors? Think that my first choice would be Spice Orange (yes, I know it is suppose to be only for the ragtop R57) or Black with the Chili Red top and mirrors. That combo is looking better and betteer.

How can BRG be replaced by BRG-2? It’s either BRG or it isn’t it, right?

bring back mellow yellow!!!!

Holy smokes! Is Ice Blue really similar to the was-going-to-be-a-launch-color Candy Blue?

Electric Blue and Dark Silver rules!

I was hoping for a milky non-metallic medium dark blue like the Denim Blue on the last Gen Audi TT/A4s. It’s a bit of understated whimsy, almost Mini-esque even.

Was hoping for the non metallic BRG as in JCW50.

That Ice Blue looks like it would go well in the garage with my EB and IB first generation MINIs. Any links to more pictures, guys?

Probably hoping for Velvet Red to one day make a come back is a bit much, right?

Hey, a guy can dream!

Just saw the update … Ice Blue is available for all models now :-)

Your not alone on that DB, I know many people that would love VR to return. White Silver should be a decent addition though I will miss Dark Silver.

Spice Orange!!!

I am so happy to see in your updates that Orange Spice will be an R56 color!

Ice Blue, very clean, non-metallic and presumably no charge. Perfect. Happy to have an acceptable replacement for OB. Should look even sharper with painted wheel arches.

If you visit BigBlogg now, they have fresh info up on the new rims that will be offered. The short version: there are 5 new rims. Say goodbye to: 15″ Rotator Spoke; 16″ S-Winder, 5-Star Blaster and Bridge Spoke; 17″ Flame Spoke and Crown Spoke.

Personally I am not wild about most of the new rims as pictured, and seeing the S-Winders go away is a bummer, as I thought those were great-looking, unique, inexpensive rims that really flattered the R55 and R56.

Also, it is not entirely clear from BigBlogg, but it looks like they might be offering the Mayfair rims (Infinite Stream, I think they are called now) as a standard option. Those will be a great option if not too expensive, though it might irk some Mayfair owners to see both their color and rims as standard options on 2011 cars.

Seems that every “special” color goes to all cars after a bit. Gabe has often reported on the limited number of paint guns, so it makes sense that they get the most use from them….

Matt

Glad top see that Spice Orange will be available on the R56. Hopefully that includes the JCW. Wonder what the Chili Red top and mirrors would look like with the Spice Orange? Think that a black roof would look the best, and with the new Conical Wheels, R121. Love those wheels. Pretty much can keep the rest including the standard JCW’s including the black painted ones.

I’m thinking Ice Blue JCW w/Red roof/mirrors and Flat Black wheels. That color combo might convince me to pull the trigger.

Try Spice Orange mirror caps and some custom stripes… bam… Gulf Livery.

I do like the ice blue an awful lot. Had that color been available when I ordered my BRG I might have ordered it. Oxygen blue was a little too ‘candy’ for me, but ice blue is very nice.

I’ll keep my BRG for now.

You would hope for WC50 owners that the new BRG metallic isn’t simply the same colour as the WC50 with a few sparkles thrown in.

Liam, I don’t think that the WC50 owners will have any worries, as it was noted that BRG ll is suppose to be a lighter, with some yellow/gold in it. Isn’t Connaught Green an almost Black Green? I’d like to see that new BRG ll green, also the Ice Blue and Spice Orange in person. The latest pictures of the Spice Orange look interesting, but in person is a whole new thing.

I’m excited to see Ice Blue in person, as well.

Speaking of Gulf Livery, I’ve been thinking of having my Oxygen Blue MINI’s track wheels painted in a Gulf Orange for a similar effect.

WHITE!!! PLAIN BRIGHT WHITE!!!!! THAT’S ALL I ASK!!!!

I love how every other boring manufacturer seems to sell nothing BUT boring silver and MINI has dropped silver! Yay!

Us MINI owners have so much more style!

Gah, need to find a way to swing a Hot Chocolate S with white roof and white stripes…

Need to see the Spice Orange in the flesh …
