From MINI Press:
Within the scope of the International Talent Support from July 14th to 17th 2005 a renowned jury will nominate a new shooting star of photgraphy.
ITS#FOUR – International Talent Support – is expanding: With the MINIInternational Photo Award, a new field of creativity will be conquered. Accompanying the well-established fashion design contest, the MINIInternational Photo Award gives young, upcoming photography artists the opportunity to present their work to a renowned jury of industry professionals and others engaged in the creative sector. The winner will be given the chance to shoot a remittance work for MINIInternational to once more prove his or her skills and receive a 5.000 Euro reward. With this award, MINI supports a young upcoming creative scene.
Out of 48 projects, a total of 17 works, coming from 12 schools in Europe, Asia and the U.S., will be heading into competition on the 16th of July in Trieste. The contestants will present their work to an international jury, which strongly emphasizes on creativity and the technical implementation.
The jury, nominating the winner for the MINIInternational Photo Award, consists of Jan Welters (photographer), Anne Urbauer (editor in chief of MINIInternational), Veronique Kolasa (founder of Le Book), Lisa Naftolin (creative director of Art&Commerce), Renzo Di Renzo (creative director of Fabrica) and Cecilia Dean (editor in chief of Visionaire).
ITS#FOUR, the International Talent Support, is an international platform that offers great possibilities for the creative potential of young fashion designers and fashion design students. Since four years, a renowned jury elects has elected every year only the freshest and most creative design pieces from hundreds of candidates. Traditionally, the prior years winner is a member of the current jury.
MINIInternational, the style magazine for the car, presents the world of the MINI and its aficionados. It profiles major cities and tunes into their vibes, whether on a tour of the art galleries of Shanghai, an excursion to the docklands of Marseilles, or a visit to Milan’s leading fashionistas.

Mrs Brown, Pasadena….my home town, she looked pretty good for a 90 year old.

My fav would be Yojirou Imasaka.

I’m still getting that mag but found GoMini a bit steep for my tastes.

Hey Gabe, send you the story of different kind of “international photo” via the contact from on your site.

I’ve had a look at the ITS gallery. There are great pics but also quite odd pics…. Not too sure why they are pumping money into this.

Philip

The photographers definitely went after the lifestyle angle on the portfolios.

It does strike me as a bit strange that a photo contest held for a car manufacturer wouldn’t have any cars (let alone MINIs) pictured in any of the portfolios.

Hmmm…

I quite like the photos.

As a mini owner of the last 25 years I think it is excellent that Mini, a recognised design classic, are helping breed a new generation of creative talent. I implore people to view the photographs by Lisa Wellard as they really capture a sense of style synomonous
with our beloved car…
To all the people questioning the worth of this competition, think again…Without youthful innovation the great Mini wouldn’t be what it is today
