You can put this in the confirmed rumor category: all 2006 MINIs with the factory JCW package will be pushed back to November production. We’ll hopefully have more info soon.

Too bad. I placed an order for 06 MCS full JCW last week and it seems I’ll get the car in the end of November or sometimes in December.

hey gabe – does this ripple down to the release date of the works kit for mcsa as well? any word on that?

Doh! Well, that at least explains why my ’06 MCS + JCW hasn’t been given a production date. I’d definitely rather wait a little extra time for them to get the JCW process smooth than to rush to production before they’re ready. Thanks to Gabe for getting me this info even before my dealer!

Good to know…I’m ordering tomorrow; if it’s only bumped into November, I’ll probably go for it. A month or two won’t kill me to get it right…

Nice work there Gabe. It proves two things:

You do exist.

The ouji board is still working.

Is there any reason to believe that a factory installed Works kit is superior to a dealer installed one?

Officially no. However I would suspect that many would prefer such work to be done at the factory where the rest of the car is assembled. Less to go wrong.

It is a superior deal for the money considering you get the brake kit thrown in to the price as well.

Don’t forget that an LSD is included as well.

But… it is only a superior deal if (a) you want the JCW brake kit and (b) also want either the Sport or Checkmate packages at $1400 and $2200, repectively. These take the effective price of the factory-installed JCW to at least $7700. Otherwise, you could get a stripped S with light 16″ wheels and LSD a la carte, then have the dealer install the JCW tuning kit for ~$5500. You’d end up $1700 ahead that way. This would actually cover parts and labor for the JCW brake kit, but I’d put it towards suspension and tires, myself.

Yeah that’s a good point. Totally forgot about all that “extra” math MINIUSA makes you do :)

Tanya, Quit being right. You have a knack for that.

Are the non JCW Checkmates still good to go for October Production?

I just ordered my MCS yesterday (No JCW kit) and was quoted a late November production (guess on the MA’s part). No official production date yet, but I just got my order number today…

Sorry, Capn. Guess I’m just a smart chick. By the way, I’m totally hot, too. :)

drool

lolol

Any upgrades in HP from ’05?

The changes made to the ’05 cars were the last changes that will be made to this generation of MINIs. So no.

Thanks for any info. I was one of the first posters elsewhere who found out my JCW had been delayed not once but twice already. I decided to order the car without the package and it is being built this week now. My biggest concern was that the package might be delayed some more, sending the car I asked for in August into the spring. Now that I’ve dropped it, it suddenly didn’t seem such a big deal. I’m sure I’ll enjoy my new MCS without it, and if I need more power, there’s always aftermarket or dealer installed JCW to choose from.
