This news comes from a Canadian reader:

>I was just at a Canadian Mini dealership today, looking to see what they had to
close out the model run. I read here a while ago that there would be a Canadian
Special edition since we aren’t getting the GP… and there will be! 2 of them
in fact, for the S alone.

>The big special edition car is called the JCW Competition Package, and there
will be 64 cars coming to Canada. They are only available in Astro Black/Black,
Hyper Blue/Black and Chili Red/White. The lesser special edition cars are called
the Rallye Package, and are available in Astro Black, Hyper Blue, Chili Red and
Dark Grey with body colour, white or black roof/mirror combinations. I am not
sure how many of these cars will be coming, but it is a few more than the JCW
competition. Full info on these models is as follows:

>I hope this info is useful to your Canadian readers… they had better act
fast, most of the JCW competition cars are likely already spoken for, and they
are a pretty good deal for the equipment they have (the JCW/Sports Package
alone normally costs almost $8,000, and having the aerodynamic package
installed normally costs another $4,000 minimum… add the specially tuned
suspension and alcantara special bits, and watch out!). The Ralleye package is
also a pretty good deal, as it includes about $4700 worth of package options
for $3500. The added bonus to both cars is that they come with 3 years/60,000 km of
no-scheduled maintenance. Not a huge bonus, but hey, they are already good
cars!

>The other news is that Mini Canada has confirmed that they are going to be
ramping down production and giving each dealership far fewer cars than are
being asked for, which is likely an attempt to keep the market from being
glutted with old minis.
