I can only recommend to take it slow on the ring, ecspecially when the track is open to anyone. There can be very slow, unexperienced and crzy people on the track. Two people died this year on a beautiful and dry Sunday simply because they where to fast to stop in time.
Never try to set record laps on the ring. It can be leathal!!
Yeah, thanks Andrea :-/ I haven’t been homesick in a day or two :-p
I’m all for sharing the road, but I’ve seen it so bad on the Ring that Bikes were swarming around cars 🙁
It’s all fun and games until you kiss the Armco.
What kind of mods do you have on the car? Sounds great; when my wife and I go to England part of the tour of Europe will definitely stop here.
I’m the same as Yegor H. GT4 all the way, at least I know the track virtually.ha
I wonder if there is anything remotely like this in America or Canada?
Come in off the street, pay some cash, and go out on a racetrack as fast as you dare.
I was lucky enough to do some laps around the Ring in May this year (it’s a long way from Australia you see). And it was easily the highlight of my month in Europe. While the SLK200 I did my laps in was not too shabby, I’d love to have had the opportunity to take my own MCS around the Nordschleife.
On a more serious note, I do agree with Philip’s comments about treating the track with respect. There will always be someone faster than you. On the day I spent there I was pretty happy to get past a Mk5 Golf R32. A few corners later I was passed by a Toyota Yaris!
Take it all in good humour and bring along plenty of common sense and a trip to the Nürburgring will be a highlight to treasure for many years to come.
By the way. The next Pirelli New MINI Trophy is on Oct. 7th on the Nordschleife. It’s a 12 laps long distance event. Only registered cars are allowed on the track. There are marshalls and additional emergency precautions. Let me know if you want more details on that.
>Gabe, are you watching? We all know how it is one of your life goals to drive the “Ringâ€ÂÂ. This video must make you salivate…
Hey,
What weekend were you there, I might have a pic of your car. I take my MCSC out with the top down for two laps at the end of the day on Sundays when the traffic dies down and the non-locals have to pack up for the trip home. It is great living only an hour away from the Ring!
I can only imagine the thrill of doing this. Sadly I am sure I will never be able to experience this wonderful track in person. GT4 is as close as I will ever get !
What kind of camera mount are you using? I like the way it was very slightly swaying during the run.

What kind of camera mount are you using? I like the way it was very slightly swaying during the run.

It’s a very simple mount: two slats of wood pressed with screws on the headrest supports of the passenger seat. The camera is fixed to the slat using a generic clamp camera mount. I’ll post some pictures of the mount on my blog as soon as I can…
It’s written in italian, but there are lots of photos that I’ve taken at the ‘ring, check it out:

That will void your warrenty ;), watch out for that subaru looking car on the left!
…uh ..yea I think I have a little clutch wear, is that adjustable?….lol
So this is a 9:28 run…thats better then the Jag diesal and better then Sabine in a truck;)
We need Sabine in a MINI!
One more thing, I hate Bikes on the Ring, even though I like BMW bikes.
Bravo Andrea mi e’ piaciuto.
But I saw what looked like a WRX wagon fly by you, was it because of driver or car?
Just kidding, it looks like a lot of fun, and if I’m not wrong, you have beat the time set by Jermey Clarkson with his 400hp Jaguar.
Hey Apinamike, we ended up saying the same thing and posting almost at the same time.

Very exciting! Great drive, Andrea. You now the track very well. How many times you have been there?
That’s my dream. I wish I was there. For now I have my GT4 and 42″ plasma with racing seat and steering wheel 🙂
Andrea, next time clean the windshield better :))
Great lap Andrea!
Enzo,…weird huh
The diesal turbo jag is the one with 400bhp?
I remember sabine taking the last left embank.
Thanks guys 😉
I’m glad you like it.

You now the track very well. How many times you have been there?

That was my twelfth lap, but I’ve done hundreds of virtual laps in GT4 😉

Andrea, next time clean the windshield better :))

I did it 3 laps before this one! Bloody bugs 😛
Yeah, thanks Andrea :-/ I haven’t been homesick in a day or two :-p

I not sure, but I think it was a 2.7 V6 Diesel S-Type and that has only 207 hp.

That doesn’t sound like an MCS.
>That doesn’t sound like an MCS.
I was wondering how long that was going to take!
Definitely cool to watch! thanks Andrea

That doesn’t sound like an MCS.

In fact it’s a MC 😛
Supersprint muffler and central pipe;
K&N 57i;
Remapped ECU (127 hp);
Eibach Pro-Kit;
Toyo T1R;
Ferodo DS2500.
it sounds like an MC with a CAI to me.
All that with no helmet! Sorry, whether required or not, I would have to put the “punkin” bucket on. Still great fun to watch – thanks for sharing.
R50. MC. Feels like a 5 speed. Nice piece of driving.
nice…wish I could go – sad face here
Gabe, are you watching?
We all know how it is one of your life goals to drive the “Ring”. This video must make you salivate…
Sounds like there’s also an aftermarket exhaust on there, too!
Cool video. Thanks for sharing
Looks like you passed an Elise at about the 3 minute mark

Heaps of information on Ben Lovejoy’s site too for those planning a trip to the ‘Ring.

Yes and yes.
Dude can drive… that video just made my day
Greets on your new record, Andrea!
Could you please give a link to the company who makes remapping of ECU?
>Remapped ECU (127 hp);
Cool video. Thanks!
Gotta love Europe… insurance would never allow an open track day like that in the US…

Awesome!!
That brought back some nice memories. My lap times are not that good. I was around 11m5s in a E90 4cyl.
