Nashville, TN: The North American MINI Cooper Championship is pleased to announce that The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation has been selected as the “official” charity of the growing series.

“We are very excited to be a part of The Minnie Pearl Foundation’s fund raising efforts,” noted series founder and director, Phil Wicks. “We believe this affiliation will be one that derives good for people in need and I’m honored that the North American MINI Cooper Championship is going to assist Minnie Pearl Foundation in their ‘fund racing’ campaigns. We look forward to creating distinctive campaigns that will help cancer survivors and patients across Tennessee and beyond.”

“Minnie” fund raising events will be part of select races of the North American MINI Cooper Championship. The MINI Cooper universe of car owners and enthusiasts have long supported activities related to the MINI Cooper and have strongly supported MINI car clubs around the country. The enthusiasm for the brand is legendary and both the North American MINI Cooper Championship and The Minnie Pearl Foundation anticipate extended support for all things Minnie.”

The next and final race of the 2006 North American MINI Cooper Championship is on October 30th at Buttonwillow Raceway, in Buttonwillow, CA. The race will be held in combination with the Phil Wicks MINI Driving Academy. The first “fund racing” event in conjunction with The Minnie Pearl Foundation is the “Minnie Challenge” on November 4, 2006 at Nashville Speedway. Details on this event can be found at both organizations’ websites.
