The magazine version of our favorite TV show seems to like the 2007 MINI. So much so that it has just named it the best small car for 2007. Here’s an excerpt from the awards list:
>It’s not easy to tell apart from its predecessor, but the new Mini Cooper S is the most fun car we’ve driven this year.
Now the MINI will move on to the ultimate test with the rest of the individual winners and vie for the coveted Top Gear Car of the Year Award. You can also check out the TopGear video that features the MINI along with everyone’s favorite slow TV presenter James May. We’re guessing the middle finger in the pic above is the result of a bad hair day.
You can see the entire list of cars and read the rest of the article below:

Is it me or are we being given the finger in the picture?
Great write up by the boys at Top Gear! Cross your fingers for the return of the show.
That’s a good picture for a caption contest.
Sure looks the the passenger is flippin’ the bird.
Perhaps a statement about the contenders?
I think in this photo, that’s the driver, not passenger.
Educational pic: I never realized that other drivers have been trying to tell me that I’m in the #1 car. Cool.
Top Gear is back!

Oh dear – James May is surely even uncooler than Jeremy Clarkson! Bring back Tiff and Quentin!
Quentin has famously owned 21 MKII Golf GTI’s (cheating as he was a motor dealer) and Tiff is surely the best driver ever to dawn Top Gear. What a show – long may it continue and good luck for Hamster and his recovery.
As for the gesture in the picture I am sure this will attract loads of complaints against the BBC from loads of old British foggies! Annoyingly for the BBC as it is a public body it has to investigate every one – oh dear and Top Gear is already in the BBC bad books!
>Oh dear – James May is surely even uncooler than Jeremy Clarkson!
The un-coolness of Captain Slow is what makes him so cool. And that little statement he’s giving above is him telling you what he thinks of you calling him un-cool. Besides, he got on-track driving instruction from Jackie Stewart in a TVR. Who’s cool, now?
I too love the MINI, but I also think that TG tends to have a … “bias” is too strong a word…seems to favor British-made cars. I’m surprised they picked the MINI over the GTI…
just who is the current Stig anyway?
I don’t believe it – Jeremy Clarkson now likes something BMW have made? or did he forget?
Yes, I would like to know who “The Stig” is behind that full face helmet.
Ive heard that the Stig is not one fixed person, and that it changes from test to test, sometimes being the owner of the car in question. As for Tiff and Quentin, Tiff is now on Fifth gear (Im surprised they could afford his huge ego) and Quetin Wilson appears from time to time and IMO his used car salesman-esque style wouldn’t go with the current show. Top gear comes back on the 28th of January on UK screens I believe.
Actually he’s not flippin the bird…but it looks like it. In the video, he’s gesturing with his index finger to “come over.”
