Fireballed! Racing Press Release Fireballed! Racing revealed their latest project MINI, “The WIDOW†at the LA Auto Show to overwhelmed and shocked crowds. It is currently the World’s Most Powerful Street MINI, …period. Using products that were developed and tested through their race program, Fireballed designed a complete line of components and wild conversion kits that will be introduced this year. Combining Movie Car Designer (And host of CarTV.com) Fireball Tim’s concepts and Sport Compact Genius Hubie Fuh’s performance, The WIDOW is their vision of the ultimate MINI, thus achieving the concept of the “TOTAL TUNE.†“
“Our innovative products compliment each other and integrate seamlessly with the factory designed components, enhancing the driving experience,†says Fireballed! Executive VP Hubie Fuh.
The FIREBALLED! MAD MOD V Turbo Conversion Kit is the centerpiece of this insanely modified MINI and is capable of producing almost 500HP out of the original 1.6L engine. Stuffed with custom FIREBALLED! designed JE Pistons, ARP hardware, and topped with their CNC Stage 2 Race Head, the engine has proven to be unbelievably strong.
“Working with EXEDY Racing, we helped develop the current HYPER SINGLE Clutch and Flywheel assembly which handles all the abuse, while maintaining exceptional driveability,†comments Brian White, head of Operations. “The Quaiffe ATB Differential allows us to put the power down evenly.â€ÂÂ
The custom designed stainless steel tubular manifold feeds the exhaust gases to the Garrett GT3071 ball bearing turbo. Boost is perfectly controlled via the TurboSmart eBOOST2 and low charge air temperatures are maintained with the custom FIREBALLED! MAD MOD Liquid to Air Barrel Intercooler. Custom return type fuel system featuring dual in-tank fuel pumps and boost dependent fuel pressure regulator insure that the upgraded fuel rail and 550cc RC Engineering Injectors have plenty of fuel on tap. Fuel management developed in conjunction with MYNES PERFORMANCE allows them to enjoy the full spectrum of performance from cruising around town with 350HP at 17PSI or racing with 500HP at 30+ PSI. Balance of power, braking, and handling is often overlooked, but not in this ridiculous “MEGA†MINI. Selecting components from Bilstein, HOTCHKIS Performance, M7, Power Flex, and IRELAND Engineering, the balance is maintained as all three areas work in harmony.
The interior treatments complement the custom black with red stitching on the JCW leather dash and console down tubes. RECARO TrendLine Seats provide much needed support and the four-point roll cage protects and adds support to the already stiff chassis. A plethora of electronics are needed to operate and monitor this beast. DEFI electronic boost, pressure, and temperature gauges relay vital engine data. Innovate wide band A/F gauges helps us maintain proper tuning via APEXi AFC Select, and the MSD DIS-2 Ignition provides the powerful spark necessary to light the mixture. When not in racing mode, the Pioneer AVIC-N1 and Infinity components provide a different level of entertainment.
The clean and “business like†theme flows along the exterior treatment as well. ARMAR Custom BodyWorks was responsible for blacking out the headlights, tail lights, and various chrome components as well as shaving the front and rear wipers and all unnecessary openings in the engine bay. AXIS Widetrack wheels with ridiculous 90MM polished lips give the MINI a muscular stance envisioned for Fireball Tim’s LUX Theme. Painted Aero Sideskirts, fender flares, cowl vents, and a carbon fiber front splitter complement the lines of the MINI. A virtually impossible to find JCW GP carbon fiber wing extends the body lines and provides much needed aerodynamic support.
Innovative design combined with outrageous performance clearly defines this latest project from FIREBALLED! RACING.

Hi DB and Gabe,
Do you have any more pictures of this beast, or at least a link to more pictures? Thanks.
See <a href="http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95473" rel="nofollow">this thread</a> and <a href="http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3800635426731466963" rel="nofollow">this dyno vid.</a>
What type of fuel does it run to get 500HP? Jet fuel?
That is one beautiful ride!
there are a few more pictures over at the <a href="http://www.fireballed.com/machines/widow" rel="nofollow">Fireballed! site</a>.
Also, Brians says that’s on race gas, but it will still pull over 300 on the stuff from the pump.
And yes, it has been very nicely done!
How much of the original engine is he using?
Thanks for the compliments!
To make the 478whp we were running vp c16 ( 118 ) but on a daily basis I drive this car to work or wherever and it runs on pump 91 oct gas and makes 320 – 350whp
The engine is still running a stock crank, rods and bearings on the bottom end, the only real change inside the motor are our custom JE pistons and our ported head.
Believe me when I tell you this car is a blast to drive and is driven on a more/less daily basis. I drive it because I want to since its not my only car but it is my car of choice!
Feel free to call us at the shop or email us with any questions. <a href="http://www.fireballed.com" rel="nofollow ugc">http://www.fireballed.com</a>
This is a beautiful ride, wow!
Brain, the R53’s TRITEC engine never ceases to amaze me. Basically you are running this engine still with key stock components. Wow!
Are you guys going to develop further Fireballed! machines based on the R56 chassis/powertrain?
We refuse to answer that based on the fact that it may…
…okay fine, yea we’re going to be doing R56 stuff. Beware the VHP…
Might want to fix that title. I’m guessing they own it.
WOW, how does one go about getting that shine?? I got the same color mini (astro black right?) and use Zanio but get nothing close to that wettness.
Custom paint job, perhaps?
it’s factory paint and it’s like looking into a mirror at the bottom of a well.
Forgot to mention Brian also spent some time as a detail professional.
What products is he using to achieve that level of glossiness?
We ONLY use Meguiars, as Brian has worked with them for a long time. He has extreme detail technique;-)
The car will be at AMVIV this weekend, but you can email him at <a href="mailto:brian@fireballed.com">brian@fireballed.com</a> for tips. And he’s the best.
i saw it at the LA show. pretty nice. i still have photos on my camera
Oh my god – amazing!
Thanks Fireballed Tim. As a matter of fact I bought a bottle of Meguiar’s NXT wax which I plan to use for my next detailing session. In years past I have tried Zaino, which is nice, but a little overrrated IMHO. I have read about rave reviews of the NXT product, so we’ll see how it goes on my MCS.
To achieve show-car results you need to wet sand, then buff, then polish, then start adding top coats…with many iterations in between. Lots of time…but the end result always dazzles.
