Pretty predictable results all in all, I would have been shocked if the race prepped Taveller was unable to beat the stock mini. No real suprise though that it was beat by the Porche. then again for the cost of the Porche you could be driving both Mini’s and still have plenty of funds left over in your pocket.
I have to assume that was a turbo Porche because you could tell if it wasn’t for the long strait at the end the lag on the Porche would have doomed it.
That was a great video and all, but I can’t understand a dang thing any of them were saying! Man, I wish people wouldn’t mumble…
By golly though. A Vtech in a Mini…
I love Sabine! She also drives a ‘ring taxi if anyone wants to take one. But you got to get there early, there is a long line to have her be your driver. She is hot! Even if she is faster than me.
I rode the taxi with Sabine in 2005. Then got to spend the day driving an M3 around and around thanks to BMW and Dunlop. She hold the lap record for the taxi (or at least did at that time) and if I recal the lap was just under 8 minutes or so. She just about broke a 10 minute lap driving a diesel van:
Very enjoyable. I loved the mini’s quality of workmanship and optional accessories. Where can we find a powerful enough Honda VTEC engine for the new MINI Cooper S?
Did anyone other than me question the sanity of the beanie head protector used by the mini driver? i would have thought that race track regulations would have stomped on that one!

At least he was wearing something.
I’ve seen many videos of people driving the ‘ring not wearing a helmet. I heard it was because it’s a public road so they don’t make them or some such.
If we had a public race track here in the States, I’m sure you would need a helmet, sign a waiver, have a 5 million dollar insurance policy, have a special license plus pay about $300 for a lap. The ‘Ring is about $40 and you don’t need that other stuff.
Me? Yea, I think I’d wear a helmet. Probably put the Schroth Harness in too for good measure.
LOL I thought so… I knew that wasn’t a stock engine in the Mini. 😉
Great video, thanks! 🙂

Not a turbo. Turbos have air induction scoops on rear fenders. Does look like a C2-S due to the quad exhausts.
. . . proof again that you don’t need to have the best or the latest in order to have the MOST FUN!
agree 100%. However, the FUN factor is the only arena these cars compete in. I am very lucky , I have both.

That was some fantastic footage…don’t even need to speak German to enjoy that one. I knew that classic had to be a VTec Mini. Awesome.
Hey I put a link to this video on NAM, cool!
Love them V-Tec MINIs! Great use of Metallicas’ Shortest Straw from the ..And Justice For All album in the vid.

Fantastic!…once again Honda technology to the rescue. Now if only mini could make engines as amazing as the Honda beauties!! ; )
