Before I start, does anyone else think it’s weird when Todd does the intro? I’m just sayin’.
Todd and Gabe again with Gabe trying to get caught up on all of things that he wanted to talk about it. Mostly about the Clubman and the JCW. It’s great to have him back this week and this is a great show that I’m sure you will enjoy!
MTTS Round 2 coverage starts this weekend with Todd in Chicago. I’ll be running things somewhat from WRR West to get those updates to you as quickly as possible. And, don’t worry. No. Video.
Have been in love with that un-earthly sound coming out of the M3 ever since your initial driving video on the press release Gabe. Have to say that the car I am waiting for is the next Z4 M, hoping we will see another coupe and this time with that monster V8 in it. If the rumors are correct though and we see a Z2 I would really love to see how a M development on that would turn out.
I have never owned a BMW but if I ever need something a little more comfortable, fast and luxurious, I have no doubts they will be at the top of my shopping list.
However, to me MINI offers anything and everything most people will ever need and possibly want from a car. I love the concept, the engineering, the history, the pedigree, the cool factor and the huge value afforded by MINI products. If MINI have never made it to the US, I could possibly be driving a 3-Series right now but the MINI is such a wonderful mix of all of the above that I just haven’t felt compelled to “Upgrade” and make the switch to the blue propeller badged cars.
I have seen several 1 series coupes and convertibles here in Miami and the car is generally handsome and attractive. Not a drop dead gorgeous car by any stretch of the imagination (I agree 100% with you Todd) but it does have a little something that makes it nicer than your garden variety 3 series.
I am sure the 1-Series is a terrific machine in 135i guise, however, I have no use for a 3 box coupe design (At least the MINI coupe can be better justified in the practicality department just because it is a hatchback) and a 6-cyl car in this day and age of $4.50+ gasoline is a very hard sell in my book.
If MINI ever offers the Euro 1-Series 3 and 5 door hatchback with either the R56/R55 S prince turbo engine or a turbodiesel, then I am sure I’ll find myself in a huge conundrum deciding between staying with MINI or jumping over to BMW.
Bit as it is, MINI is more car than I’ll ever need and love driving them, even if I have no set destination in mind.
C4 there is no doubt that the Mini platform is a killer one, still having driven a rear wheel drive cars for many years. There are some things that I love about both cars, yet the new V8 in a Z4 would do something that has been somewhat lost in the new R56. The R56 is a quick car, yet even the JCW Mini is just way to silent from the front, nice sounds from the rear but just listen to the sound of the engine from Gabe’s drive of the M3 on the track and there is nothing like the sound of a motor and exhaust note together.
Great show guys.

And Gabe, please don’t become a stranger in MINI world. It was nice to hear you again after your “sabatical” from WRR.
One suggestion though… I think Bimmerfile needs its own podcast. What do you think?
