MINI USA Configurator
Update: MINIUSA’s configurator is updated. What are you waiting for? Get clicking…
We’ve heard from several sources over the last few weeks that September 10th was the day. While the update hasn’t gone live as of 7 am EST we expect it to later today.

Waiting…

You would think they would get the configurator updated before people start taking deliveries of ’11 cars. I guess not, though.

It is up for me!!

One thing I did notice, it is allowing me to add black headlight housings on the jcw. I am assuming this is a mistake since it has been stated over and over again that the jcw would not get them as an option.

Can you build a Clubman?

I want to build a Chili Red Clubman with a White roof!

Geez I am so silly I want a Chili Red/White Countryman. OK I admit that I am a WRC fan boy!

I can build a 2011 R56 R55, and R57 but no R60

When you select the wheel locks, the wheels disappear from the car image. Um, these are supposed to prevent that from happening.

Just noticed the handles are black with the Striped Alloy Trim option in the US configurator, but silvery on the UK site. Is it a mistake? What a headache. Please let them be silvery, don’t like the black ones if I need to pay $250 for them when getting the Silver Alloy Trim. Already ordered mine without seeing. Another person noticed the same thing about the handles: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/3127931-post286.html

Frogberg: That’s funny. We waited so long and still it (configurator) is not perfect. :C

Heidi: Brushed Alloy did not show up on the door handles in the builder either, so prob silver on the doors handles in real life. The pic makes them look plastic though, I hope its real metal still.

Also Comfort bluetooth, mini connect and NAV are missing.

Dean: I dont think the R60 builder will be up until Oct.

Config:

$100 more for a blue convertible top/ Hot choco top $0.
Thats the suppliers for you.

2005 vs. 2011 configed the same way shot up 6,000 bucks.

Hurrah!

Also kind of worried about the headliner color. Is it Beige or something else in US? If you look at the info on the Anthracite headliner it says: “…dark anthracite color instead of the standard Gray.” So is the standard Gray or Beige? Also when I print out My Mini brochure in the end with my specs some of the switches are silver instead of black. Yeah, Let’s motor and not focus on the details. ;)

See this is what I am seeing with the switches: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/attachments/coupe-talk-2007/49361d1284126158-2011-ordering-mini_interior_us.jpg

Well, at least it’s on. I was curious about the blackened headlights and was just about to call my M/A, then I remembered that they were not available with the new adaptive headlight system, so it’s a no go anyway. Glad that it’s finally up.

English Oak Trim not working either. Mini don’t let us down like this, please? :(

Can you look into the headlight washers too? They used to be standard with CW package. Now it looks like you have to have xenons and even if you got CW, it’s a separate option. But, then the PDF says you get charged $500 for the xenons separate if you ordered the Sport (where xenons are STD)
What gives MINI??

Well…my Spice Orange COOPER with options ends up costing me $38,047.00
It’s a really NICE Cooper tho 😀 LOL

Strange I don’t see a NAV option for the Cooper S

Jas: I guess the Striped alloy is real metal since hear it clearly says genuine, whatever that means. 😉 See page 21. http://www.mini.com/militarysales/en/militarysales_models/_pdf/MINI_Family_USA.pdf

Interesting configurator observation; Spice Orange and BRG II combined with a JCW aero kit will not show. However, choose a different color (to stay on the new color theme, say, Eclipse Grey) and it updates.

Bummer, JCW Clubman is still out of my price range… lol.

It has alot of mistakes, says that standard leatherette is not available with laser blue, and then xenon are not available with the sport package…funny since that package includes them haha.

Rodney: You probably won’t see either, Mini Connect or the NAV until they release it later this month, or the first part of October. Ship date has been pushed into December for delivery it appears.

Pretty much the same for the Countryman. The introduction for ordering isn’t suppose to be until mid October. I’m surprised that it’s that early, beings as they aren’t talking about shipping them to the USA until February.

I was charged $500 for the alarm system and I also got the premium package $1750 which on the configurator includes the alarm. Do I get a discount now? :D

My mistake, I was accidentally looking at the convertible.

Here is the brochure on the JCW, thanks Heidi. http://www.mini.com/militarysales/en/militarysales_models/_pdf/MINI_JCW_USA.pdf

Also..no mention of mission control in any official mini press releases or ads/brochure above, is it still coming Gabe?

ok..sorry..seems the JCW brochure is old. But the new 2011 model one is listed above by Heidi.

Okay, I guess the sunroof equals the stuff that is included in the premium package of the convertible. But it is confusing. I got ahead of myself a bit.

The spoiler is now $250!

You can’t order heated seats a la carte anymore.

No Countryman option? Bah.. this deserves the Obi-Wan treatment:

“Move along… this is not the configurator you were looking for.”

Not what I planned originally, but I’m really liking the red roof:

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4092/4976635743_8111da6d5d_b.jpg

Mark R I like it! The whole point of the MINI is to stand out. I like those wheels with this as well… It would be cool if the wheels had small red lines outlining the spokes.

So no green seats with light colored interior trim? And no green seats for the clubman at all?

That gives me a sad :-(

The Polar Beige color line has a pink cast to it…pretty gross. I hope that is a web design error and not the actual color.

minipuma – never trust the color you see on screen is going to look like the real thing in person.

@ Seth L – Me too, I really want Green Lounge Leather in a Clubman

um are the options for nav and mini connect broken?

um are the options for nav and mini connect broken?

Nope. Just not available yet. As previously indicated, it will be available in November.

Not surprised that there are a few bugs with the configurator. These usually get resolved pretty quickly. I’d bet they get help identifying issues by monitoring this thread.

@Minipuma: Think BMW ivory leather. All reports are that it is fantastic…if you like a light interior.

Gabe, I don’t see the dipping side mirrors for parallel parking that you talked about several months ago.

When I first went on this afternoon, the rain sensors & auto headlights were $500. Then about 20 minutes later they were back to $250. Who knows what this was about. Although, we were all told that the JCW Chili Red Color Line, dash and doors with Chili Red was suppose to be a N/C option for the JCW. Well folks, Mini is at it again, its a $250. option. That’s what is says.

While doing the configuring today, I noticed that the blackened headlights ARE an option, a no cost option. Not available with the Adaptive system, however. Almost changed my order for them, but stayed with the Adaptives.

WTF! Did they test this configurator before they released it or what? Chock full of bugs!

I’m hoping Mini Connect, when it does come out, is not as buggy as the configurator.

I’m sorry but the jcw red roof and black shaded headlights scream poseur. Why couldn’t they just add few more performance related features instead of just visual cues? Does red paint make you go faster or reduce torque steer?

The configurator is buggy to say the least. They tried to get a head start by updating it’s basic design a few months ag, thinking all they would need do is change colors and prices, deleting old options but it hasn’t completely worked out. White silver & hot chocolate can not be ordered with Premium or other packages because that’s how the 50th Anniversary editions worked and those colors are still linked to the old command conflicts even though there are no Camden or Mayfair packages available anymore. My lease is up end of November and I want Mini Connect. I will extend my lease until I can order it.

Here are some shots of the 2011s in Canada…shows that MINI Connect is on a car there..but not the US?…and see black headlights on the eclipse grey, looks great.

http://theultimateautomotiveblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/2011s-are-in-canada.html

Andrew: No, the red paint doesn’t help the torque steer, but the electronics does. Also, use after market springs to both improve the handling and lowering the car by about one inch helps there alot too. As for doing more for the JCW? Well, it’s getting to be the opinion that BMW has an over supply of the 208hp engine, hence no imporovements or changes. Makes kind of sense when you consider that they probably haven’t sold over 1500 of them world wide since inception. I haven’t anything to back that up with, but it sure makes sense.

As for the Red roof and mirrors, I like it. I like it so much that I ordered on in Black. Be here in November. As for the Mini Connect: I don’t have an Iphone, so Mini Connect is useless.

any body have success with the estimator? doesn’t seem to work

Yo,

I see some things that are not accurate but can’t find 75% of the issues reported above. You guys just need to clear your cache or wait until your proxy has pulled all the latest files. That’s what you get for checking build your own all the time and/or at work.

The estimator will open in a different window or tab.

Cheers… keep on motoring…

Mike

Dredging up a (week) old thread…

My wife configured a ’11 Cooper S Cabrio. We generated a PDF, took it to the dealer, and placed an order. That was Saturday, Sept 18.
I spent a couple of hours on the phone, and at the dealer, sorting out some ‘issues’ that the configurator caused: options disappeared, multiple options – like 2 sets of wheels, 2 color lines – added. Thought we had it all sorted out, and placed an order.
Adaptive headlights fell off the PDF order sheet, I didn’t catch it until today. Tried to change the order, told “too late”. Not pleased.
And MINI USA Customer Relations referred me back to the dealer.

Per my wife: “What’s the *ing point of custom ordering if you don’t get what you ordered?” Or in our case, what we thought we were ordering.
