MINI USA is reporting sales of 4,884 automobiles, an increase of 18.3 percent from the 4,128 cars sold last year. 18% is the largest year over year increase we’ve seen thus far this year and surely was helped by successful incentives on the remaining 2010 inventory. (Sales figures after the break)
Year-to-date, MINI USA also reported sales of 34,588 automobiles, a decrease of 1.2 percent from the 30,868 units sold last year.

Um… are the numbers switched, because this doesn’t make sense:
“Year-to-date, MINI USA also reported sales of 34,588 automobiles, a decrease of 1.2 percent from the 30,868 units sold last year.”

I see an increase there, not a 1.2 percent decrease.

I bought a 2010 Cooper S last week. It was mfgr 4/2010. It listed for $26,700, with $1500 discount $25,200. To order an identical 2011, $29K. Subtract $990 for stock wheels. Saved around $1200 on .9 financing vs. 3.9. The 2011 is a better car in some ways but not $4K better.

Bob S.,
They forgot to add the Sept 2009 sales.
30,868 + 4,128 = 34,996
Probably just an error while cutting and pasting to last months article?

What recession? What recovery? BMW AG is doing very nicely thanks to China and new markets. Most BMW subsidiaries are showing growth. The Quandts and shareholders will be pleased.
The Countryman will boost figures – the ideal soccer mom’s car. Then there is the coupe and roadster to come.

Glad to have helped the numbers with my order last week! :0)

This should be good for BMW’s bottom line

Bob,

Look at the charts. The YTD 2009 is 34,996. The 30,868 is a misprint in the text section.

Is this a good rebound for MINI or a fire clearance sale? I hope not the latter.

For Sep 2010:
3304 + 1046 + 543 = 4884 ???
