Once upon a time there was a blog post. A blog post extolling the virtues of the Fiat 500 over the MINI Cooper.
Then 1 day, 3 fine lads heard about this blog post. And they came to defend their champion. As did 75 of you.
That’s right, your 3 favorite MINI Cooper fan boys doing what we do best for 42 minutes and 54 seconds. And then some.
Enjoy!

That list is a testament to incompetence, or lack of curiosity, that Mr. John Montgomery would not even research the ridiculous claims that make up the bulk of the list. It was little more than a stunt and you did him a great favor by even responding.

Glad you guys took it as humor, still think there is a prime thing here for an MINI response. Still say there are more than a few of his items that are true. For me the biggest bonus of the 500 is that MINI employed all the engineers from Playschool that designed the R56 interior heh.

Like this Podcast. Guys, DSC has been standard equipment since the 2009 Model Year. MINI was ahead of the curve. Fiat not so much.

Run Flats Only Standard on All Cooper S’s, John Cooper Works, Convertibles, and Countryman’s.

2011’s require 89 Octane or Higher according to MINI and the sticker inside the fuel filler doors.

Paddle Shifters on a Cooper of any kind with an Automatic are no longer available. They were discontinued in March 2009 Production. Only Cooper S’s come standard with them when you opt for the Automatic Transmission.

The Countryman has 7 airbags unlike the other body styles. The 7th is for the passenger to prevent them from submarining underneath the instrument panel.

Enzo Ferrari was given a Mini given to him as a gift by Sir Alec Issigonis himself. There’s even a cool pic of the two at a Petrol Stop I just found on MINI2.

Issigonis & Mr Enzo Ferrari. So while their arguements aren’t that convincing, they aren’t entirely true, either!

Cool podcast … drove one a few weeks ago.

So, 2 things …. 1. the interior quality you speak of Gabe is not good. It LOOKS good but it feels rather cheap and more toy like than MINI ever did. Spend 30 minutes in it and drive it … then decide.
and 2. about the interior space … it’s tighter, higher roofline BUT doesn’t feel so because of the high seating position. Also I was thinking how the FIAT is really strictly a city car. I can’t imagine being comfortable running one for even shirt hwy stints of a few hours without being fatigued.

It really is a VERY different car from the MINI.

I can’t imagine how the three of you co-exist with such an enormous level of obnoxiousness and stupidity all in one room. I’m amazed there wasn’t some form of instantaneousness spontaneousness combustion. Too bad that didn’t happen. It could have avoided ever having to know the three of you would be able to repeat such an abundantly pathetic podcast again.

You guys pretty much rule. Thanks for the comments! (and setting us straight) ;)
