With a combined fuel economy of 57.6 mpg, it’s not a big surprise that Green-Car-Guide.com gave the Countryman SD All4 a score of 10-out-of-10. GCG gave the same score to the Countryman D, but had one nagging qualm: power. The Countryman SD All4 solves that with more power and torque — landing the sport diesel powered R60 nearly as sporting as the Countryman S All4, but with drastically better fuel economy.
Knew it would be slower than the petrol version but thought it being the 1st 2.0 liter that would compensate somewhat … didn’t realize ’til now it would still be such a dog w/a 2.0 liter.

Thought this was in my future for a roomy fuel efficient Mini-ish ride as I often need to travel w/my wife, 3 dogs, and luggage and 1-2 bicycles, where doing-so in the JCW Coupe is a struggle … but a near 10sec 0-60 is simply out of the question for me. To have a ride with performance I’m happy with a vehicle in the mid-low 30mpg (US) range. But as I’m sure the size of BMW’s 3.0 liter diesel in this is impossible, Oh well, moving on… :(

Probably worth noting the size of the gallon used for mpg – English is bigger so this is “only” 48mpg US

This is the car we need in the States!

 10 in uglyness, for sure
