Our sources are telling us that in the next few weeks, Horizon Blue will no longer be available on the MINI. HB will be replaced by Laser Blue, which is presently available for the Cooper S, JCW and Convertible hardtops and will remain available on those models. So if you’ve got your heart set on a Horizon Blue MINI, you’d best act quickly.

That’s a shame. Horizon Blue is one of my favorite colors. I guess the sales haven’t been great on it, or they wouldn’t cut it. Or maybe they are making room for a new extra special color for the coupe and roadster. Sorry, I’m just typing whatever my mind is saying, but that makes sense right?

Some of us would love to see “Frozen Black” on the palette — a ultra “cool” color now gracing a very limited number of BMW M3. And it is paint, not vinyl wrap.

I’m not wild about any of the blues they have offered the past several years… (except Oxygen, which while a niche color for sure was perfectly executed). Â Â

I do think Electric and Indi were better colors. Â I’d like a non-metallic blue, slightly darker than VW’s Jazz Blue… would be the blue equivalent of Chili Red basically. Â They need something that is blatantly sporty like that since they got rid of Mellow Yellow. Â (Another great color). Â Since Harry has brought up black/grey colors, the #1 color I’d like to see on a MINI is a non-metallic grey, sort of like Audi had on the TT when it first came out. (Nimbus Gray I think it was called). Â It would look extraordinary with either white or black roof and stripes. Â

Electric Blue was the stuff! I bought/ordered one of the very last ’05s after MINI was taking orders for ’06 MCS production. I so miss that car…

Odd, and I heard this too. But I don’t get it. Local dealers cannot keep the Horizon blue MINI’s on the lot as they sell rather quickly. I saw one the other day with white top and white leather interior……oooola ! la ! Now that was a really awesome combo nicely done up !

Maybe it’s just not a popular color with those who order their MINI’s from the factory ?

I’ve gone back and forth on this color. Â I think Indi Blue was the best offering in the blue range–but I have also been fan of Oxygen Blue and I like (but don’t love) the Ice Blue. Â Connaught Green is what we all want, but I’m not holding my breath for that to happen. Â And do people REALLY prefer a metallic black? Â They must…I just don’t know ANY of those people.

That does not make sense. In the UK we have a Special Edition MINI Hatch which runs for 12 months and its ‘special’ simply because you can get a MINI First, One, Cooper in the laser blue instead of having to get it in the Cooper S, JCW.

So, Laser Blue is not replacing Horizon Blue. There will be a completely new shade of blue and I bet laser blue will be discontinued and replaced too, whenever there is a special edition in the UK with a Cooper S colour its discontinued after the promotion has finished.

Never saw a Horizon Blue in the flesh and always suspected the forum photos didn’t do it justice. The white/HB scheme seemed like a great choice too. I miss Oxy and am trying to love Ice also, but IMO, feel they went a few shades too light with it. Would get pretty excited over more solid colors in general. RIP.

Pretty sure Horizon Blue is not a Cooper-exclusive color…

So that being the case, the question is, will Hz Blue still be available on the Cooper S, or is it being done away with entirely?

Laser blue is a Cooper S only colour. Lightening Blue is returning to replace Horizon Blue

You have been able to get laser blue on a cooper for a few months already.

Good! Lamest color ever. Why don’t they quit screwing around and bring back Electric Blue?

I still miss Indi Blue.

That’s one reason I still have my ’04 Electric Blue/White. Best color of the MINI yet…

I just saw a cooper in this color yesterday and thought, wow – great color. And now its history.

And why not the return of the Black eyed purpple in replecement of the horizon blue ! The most beautiful colour for my part !!
