MINI USA reported the best month ever in June with sales of 6,571 automobiles, an increase of 9.6 percent from the 5,995 sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI sales in the U.S. are up 0.9 percent on volume of 32,356 compared to 32,059 in the first six months of 2012.
The big winners in June are the Countryman (only 300 units away from the hatch) and the Roadster with almost 400 unites sold (up 68%). The Paceman is slowly moving in the right direction despite having no marketing behind the car to support its launch.
MINI Pre-Owned Vehicles
In June, sales of MINI used automobiles (including MINI NEXT certified pre-owned and pre-owned) increased 16.3 percent to 1,877 automobiles from the 1,614 sold in June, 2012. MINI NEXT had a strong month with 100 percent increase over June 2012, and 113.2 percent increase year-to-date. January through June, MINI used vehicle sales are up 18.5 percent on volume of 10,324 compared to 8,710 in the same period of 2012.

I just had to laugh when I saw the use of a Paceman photo for this post. To say “…slowly moving in the right direction…” is being very kind. I’d say the R61 numbers are downright dreadful. The R60 is still blowing it away, and only the niche Coupe is reaching fewer customers.

Obviously, the images of the F56 that leaked on July 1st traveled back in time and convinced everyone to buy the current gen carsin June…right? I mean, that’s the only possible conclusion from these numbers, by internet-logic standards, isn’t it?

Interesting numbers for sure… I see that BMW is learning that you can’t make a 1 series almost the same price as a 3 series and hope to sell many….

The Paceman is a pretty good car! I got to flog one at Laguna Seca, and it’s chassis is great. I was just pissed I had to drive an S All4 Auto. Wrong car for the track for sure…. The best part of it was the chassis though. The auto tranny on the track just took all the fun out of it.

The F30 BMW 3-series is finally moving probably due to heavy lease incentives.
