August was a record month for MINI sales with 22,736 cars delivered to customers around the world, an increase of 0.7% compared with the same month last year. In the first eight months of 2017, a total of 230,925 MINI vehicles were sold, an increase of 3.1% year on year.
While US sales continue to lag, markets elsewhere show little signs of slowing down with all models selling well. The MINI Convertible (23,311 / +20.3%) has achieved very positive sales growth in the year to date, while the new MINI Countryman was the main growth driver in August, with sales up 43.6% (5,693) in the month.

I went from my previous 2015 4 door S auto hardtop to my current 2017 S All4 8 speed auto sport/paddles. After 6 months and nearly 12K miles (yep….2K miles per month of mostly highway driving), I have no regrets at all for the switch. Granted, it doesn’t have the zip of my previous 4 door hatch with its added 600 lbs to lug around, but even considered that, it’s still quite brisk including on those winding tight roads in the hills of western NC.

Highway MPG figures at 70-75+ MPH have been averaging about 35 MPG with some fill ups as high as 37 MPG US….a good bit higher that the EPA figures of about 31 MPG. Quite decent for its size/weight of 3600+ lbs.

The chestnut body color with black roof attracts lots of favorable comments as well as the overall look of this new CM. Its overall driveability combining comfort along with very decent handling is a plus in my book. Add to that the capability to haul 4 persons comfortably (have never had 5 yet), is another plus!
