Way back at the launch of the F56, we heard from a little birdie that MINI had developed a full digital display that was to show-up in a future versions of the car. Little did we (or perhaps MINI) know that that addition to the line-up would debut with the all electric MINI due in late 2019. The MINI digital display is intended to bring key information beyond just speed and RPM. In the MINI electric we expect a detailed view of electric range and performance along with navigation and entertainment functionality.
But the best news is that yes, this display will eventually be available on all MINI models likely as part of a revised technology package. Head over to Autoblog for more photos.
<p>Not sure what to make of it. I’ll have to see it for real.</p>
<p>When i bought 4 years ago the 1st F56, LED and HUD where part of my must haves, the LED’s are fine, the HUD is a expensive bore. The Mini HUD accessory is DDR chic.</p>
<p>State of the art is a projector with a reasonable size screen, sothat you can look a movie and the front camera at the same time.</p>
<p>Looks very similar to the display available in the X2</p>
<p>No this will be 100% digital. Similar to the new 5 Series. The X1 and X2 will adopt all digital displays in the LCI.</p>
<p>It’d be nice if it had a full display like in the GP concept, but i think they’re just gonna use the screen from the i3 and put it in that pill shaped frame.</p>
<p>If they make a retrofit available for current F56 owners…. they’d make a lot of money.</p>
<p>Installation would be super easy. They just need to make the retrofit coding available on BMW programs and that’s all</p>
<p>Retrofit & MINI… Two words that BMW and MINI will never allow in the same sentence… The number of features that have been retrofittable to earlier MINIs can be counted on one hand and you’d have fingers left over.</p>
<p>As someone who is trying to retrofit some items into an R53 I say don’t go down that rabbit hole. I’ve been amazed at how complicated that can turn out to be.</p>
<p>I’ve seen vids of retrofitting digital cockpits to Fxx BMWs. Physically, it’s simple, but some advanced coding is required.</p>

<p>They will make MORE money by selling people new cars.</p>
