The Electric MINI JCWs – Five Things That Are Driving MINI Fans Crazy
The new electric MINI JCWs have debuted and the response has been a bit uneven. While there have been some positive reactions, many have commented on everything from lack of power, speed and range to a massive increase in weight. To make sense of it all we wanted to summarize the top give things that seem to be hitting nerves the most MINI fans.
As we say in the video, there’s a chance that driving the new JCWs could quickly make all the criticism fade away. Admittedly we only have stats and the driving experience itself could make a believer out some critics.
Watch the video and let us know what you think. Do these five areas concern you as well? Or do you think MINI has nailed it with its electric JCW offerings?
I don’t think 124mph top speed is a concern for the vast majority of people. I would replace that with a lack of manual. It’s an electric so no manual but the same could be said about the weight.
The one I agree with the most is the design differentiation between a real JCW and a fake one. Just an awful decision.
The 2020 MINI Cooper SE Iconic is almost neck-and-neck with this JCW EV at 6.1 seconds. So is the 2019 Chevrolet Bolt Premier at 6.4 seconds. Think about that.
We know how quick EVs can be. For perspective, Tesla’s M3 $55,000 M3 Performance does 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. BMW/MINI absolutely can produce a JCW EV in the ball park of performance oriented EV trims from Tesla and other competitors.
Missed the 6th item – they’re just ugly inside and out.

This is not JCW-worthy spec.
