In the sports/sporty car segment, the only European car to make the cut for most reliable is the 2006 MINI Cooper.

whoah….out of nowhere, a vote confidence for sure. I may have expected MINI to be high on the customer satisfaction list, but reliability…I think that’s great.
Once again, I ask myself… do I complain because I expect more, or do I complain because it broke? Did I not complain because I expected less, or did I not complain because it didn’t break?
BUT… I have to admit that I have expected more from my MINI, and I have complained more about things that I probably wouldn’t have complained about had it been a “lesser” car. And I don’t think I’m the only MINI owner that thinks that way (see 2005 speedometer clocks running fast).
All the more reason to give kudos to MINI for making the cut, considering that I believe that the average MINI owner is more typically critical of “little” issues with their car. It seems that MINI has been able to overcome the quality issues that were definitely apparent with the ’02 vehicles and even overcome the disadvantage of nit-picky customers (myself included) to make it onto this list. Way to go MINI!
If you thumb through the pages you will find that VW manages to make the worst list, another good reason to purhcase a MINI.

2002 MINI Cooper S. This year alone, $600+ – Supercharger valve stuck. Caused engine to dump into ‘limp mode’ if the passenger side of the car went thru even a small puddle before the engine warmed up. $1700+ (Dealer quote.) for a new exhaust system. Pipe near the converter is cracked, baffle in the muffler will not open. When I put as much money into my car as a nice downpayment, I’m a bit dissapointed.
