We’ve gt a special MF Video Friday for you this week. With MINI United 2007 coming up quickly, we thought a look back to MINI United 2005 was in order. Pete Foglia and his tuning shop MIN Speed (formerly MyMINI) are featured in this week’s issue of Autoweek. Pete (for years one of our favorite people in the MINI world) talks mods, how the shop got started, and one of his latest project cars. Here’s an excerpt:
Peter Foglia guessed, and he guessed wrong. He figured that his South Florida Mini-only store, Minspeed, would sell a lot of aftermarket parts to owners of regular Coopers, because, after all, by not buying the pricier Cooper S, they’d have more to spend on personalizing their cars.

We recently heard from one of our always reliable sources that initial MINI Clubman production will be made up solely of One and Cooper models. We have yet to confirm this bit of new info but a staggered introduction wouldn’t be too surprising considering the logistical issues with introducing an entirely new model. Regardless of what model gets produced when, we can expect production to begin during the first week of August. According to our source, Cooper S and Diesel Clubmans should start production in December of 2007.

You read that right gang.
The world’s most expensive original Mini, which has only 4,825 miles on the odometer, has been sold at auction for an amazing $197,000. The original Mini had great fuel economy and classy styling, but this one of a kind Mini is a bit of a racing legend. In 1965 this exact Mini won Britain’s RAC rally. A year later, the little Mini that could topped all comers in the Scottish Rally.

[Updated with a couple more photos] AMVIV is unique in the world of MINI events in that it’s not focused on a specific driving route, road or track. Instead it’s about people and their cars. It’s a place to meet, mingle and ogle the countless customized MINIs. And it all happens in the midst of the one of the world’s biggest parties: Las Vegas.
I had a fairly unique perspective on AMVIV this year. Not only was this was my first trip to AMVIV but also (gasp) my first experience with Vegas itself. Beyond that, I actually helped host what some would consider the highlight of the event, the AMVIV Banquet. So, instead of writing the usual event review, I’m just going to present something a little closer to a travel journal.
Be sure to click on each photo for a larger view and a caption.

Recently we were approached with Klaus RÒ¶mer, a business student at Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz, Germany with an idea for a survey. As part of his dissertation, Klaus asked if we’d be interested in hosting a survey that will help in learning what aspects of relationships in the blogosphere are most important for the our readers. The success of his dissertation depends to a large extent on this survey.
So in an effort to help Klaus and MotoringFile (we’ll also be getting a peek at the results) we’d like to ask our readers to spare a few minutes and complete the survey. You can find it below:
