Factory JCW in Video

You heard the audio and read Todd’s thoughts about it, but I also got it on video! Enjoy.

Updated by request. This version has no music. Enjoy.

If you would like to view the video, you can find it elsewhere. Many people complained about the quality, so take those comments into account before you watch.

Listen for the Tuesday Woofcast upcoming where we spend a little more time talking about this car, the JCW Challenge car and my experience driving every MINI model currently available.

Sweetness! The music sort of drowns out the engine note though. Thanks for getting this info out!

C4 Jun 27th, 2008 Link

I got to start saving my pennies come 2012-2013. A Factory JCW Clubman is something I am definetely aiming at.

fdavid Jun 27th, 2008 Link

Energetic video capturing. Should add a disclaimer not to watch this video while having lunch in front of the screen! Really dizzy here, but the car looks great. D

mike Jun 27th, 2008 Link

would love to see it without the music.

Gabe Jun 27th, 2008 Link

would love to see it without the music.

Me too :)

MaxMCS Jun 27th, 2008 Link

That exhaust is music by itself… this had seriously better be available for the new cabrio, because if it is, I might just have to start saving up. 8-D

DB Jun 27th, 2008 Link

would love to see it without the music.

Ok ok. No music version coming up.

When I say coming up, it’s exporting as fast as the hampsters in my MacBook can crank it out. Probably won’t be ready for a few hours. As soon as it’s done, I’ll update the post.

DB Jun 27th, 2008 Link

The Macbook is feeling her oats today fellas (and, of course, ladies). Video sans music is there.

rs Jun 27th, 2008 Link

Wow. That exhaust is really loud. Thanks for sharing that.

You need to invest in a camcorder with image stabilization or put it on a tripod. I’m dizzy :)

DB Jun 27th, 2008 Link

The fund has already been started to add a ‘real’ video camera to my arsenal.

Drill Jun 27th, 2008 Link

@ DB/Todd, Thanks for sharing guys, that puppy sounds GREAT :-D

RB Jun 27th, 2008 Link

Goodlourd.. doesn’t that thing have a “Steady” button on it?

DB Jun 27th, 2008 Link

It doesn’t, but what do you expect for $140?

had I known all y’all would only complain about the quality I wouldn’t have even posted it.

DJ Jun 27th, 2008 Link

Great video, thanks.

Next time, however, you may want to pick a slightly safer location on the course to video from. :)

Barrett Jun 27th, 2008 Link

Dudes, I am just happy that you posted it. AWSOME video. Give me more JCDub footage! BTW, do you guys know what suspension was on the car that is shown in the video?

Keep up the good work!

Jon Jun 27th, 2008 Link

Very cool DB, I for one enjoyed it. Sounds pretty decent, although I still prefer the combo of whine and burble from the GP. Will be interesting to see more of this car.

gmini Jun 27th, 2008 Link

ahh the wine.^

I still hear music, DB. :)

C4 Jun 27th, 2008 Link

DB, no worries it is a great video.

BTW, I wanted to ask you what kind of camera is that? I meant to ask you about it when you were here in Miami.

DB Jun 27th, 2008 Link

I still hear music, DB. :)

Using iMovie only gets me so far Ian. Can’t eliminate the stuff that was playing in the background ;)

Frank…it’s a Flip Ultra. Upgraded now to something called a Mino. Search on Amazon for the best price.

I got to start saving my pennies come 2012-2013…

Me three, only maybe sooner than 2012!!!

gmini Jun 28th, 2008 Link

sCool DB. Double entendre – the music out the rear pipes, too. mmmmmm.

Slay Jun 28th, 2008 Link

DB,

Thanks for taking the time to share this video with us, specifically the time and energy it took to get it edited and uploaded! None of us can honestly expect studio quality, especially when we take into account what an amazing and unique scoop this is! :) Your sound clip and this video have elevated my MINI excitement to an all time high. Thank you sir! :D

rs Jun 28th, 2008 Link

wow, a flip shot that video. I’m pretty impressed. It was pretty clear for a small thing like that. I thought you shot the vid with a bulky camcorder.

Don’t take us complainers too seriously, we exaggerate most of the time, at least I do. Keep up the great work!

RB Jun 28th, 2008 Link

Sorry DB but it is pretty bad. I have seen FLIP vids that were quite steady though.

Seems WR should have something more professional, come man you’re WhiteRoof not TwistyBlitz! ;-)

lavardera Jun 28th, 2008 Link

I think the video quality is fine for what you are doing – if I wanted to watch TV, then I’d, well,… watch TV…

DB Jun 28th, 2008 Link

Seems WR should have something more professional, come man you’re WhiteRoof not TwistyBlitz! ;-)

Ahhhh. If money only grew on trees or the banks gave away free samples. When that happens, I would like to get this or something very much like it.

RB Jun 28th, 2008 Link

That would be kool. I’m having real fits about the latest iMovie.

Lav… Whatever man, whatever! It’s called… “COMMENTS”

Steve Jun 28th, 2008 Link

Who sets up an autoX course in a parking lot filled with light poles?

Shamus Jun 28th, 2008 Link

DB,

Why don’t you set up a “WWR Camera Donation” button. For the sake of watching a smoother version of the videos that we voraciously wait to be posted, I’d easily chip in $20-40…no joke. I think more of us would be willing to do the same!

Doesn’t hurt to ask!!!

robble Jun 28th, 2008 Link

I’m thinking the camera they mounted onto a helicopter for the filming of “Planet Earth” LoL

High Def, Super zoom (like show a cats whiskers a half-mile away), and super stabilization (so the whiskers don’t shake at all even at 1000x zoom while mounted on a helicopter). Oh yea, the microphone could pick up sounds that far away too.

bluzeke Jun 28th, 2008 Link

First and Foremost – REPORTAGE!

QUANTITY – then quality.

NOW rather than later.

BEHIND the SCENES: “Goofin’ with Rauno” – “Gas Stop” – “The Girls of MTTS” – “Ridin’ with Rauno: One Lap of Road America” – “Speeding Ticket” – “COFFEE!” – “Mrs. Todd Speaks” – “Folks who don’t “Get” MTTS?!” . . .

USE the technology AND find a way to get internet access ANYWHERE! You guys have been given an incredible opportunity here – Run With It!

IZZY Jun 29th, 2008 Link

Thanks gents for the vid. I have started to drool, so you need to bring on the full review soon ;)

I am told this ride will be in South Africa towards the end of July.
