With the Detroit Auto Show now open to the public it's time to sit back and check out some photos. For those that didn't go it's a great way to see some MINI's Detroit Concept and a few of the new 2006 options. And for those that will be making the trek, it's a nice preview. The gallery we have for you comes courtesy of Aaron at Outmotoring. Aaron also has a great write-up on the some of the behind the scenes press only events that went on throughout the last week.

I like the checkered JCW floormats. I haven’t seen those before.
After seeing all these close up pictures of the Detroit concept, I am still hoping the front end will be heavily revised before it goes into production (hate those headlamps). The only thing I really think is cool is the aluminum hood scoop with the emblem inside of it, much cleaner looking than the present one.

It will be.
It has to be revised. It doesnt currently have a bumper, and we all know how the US govt will feel about that.
I went to the show on Sat and Sun, the mini venue was packed. It was very hard to get arround and look. One thing that I think is weird is that the only info they give out is a 3×3 booklet? And the booklet doesn’t cover much. Also there was not much info about the cheekmate package or what it was. There were only 3 Mini reps. and they all looked under 18, and just stood at the booth. The entire set up was very cool, and they had a great DJ live the whole time, you could hear the mini venue from all other venues arround. VW was right next door and I thought it was funny that right out in front on a platform over looking the mini venue was the new VW GTI. It was obvious that people were more intrested in the Mini than the GTI. Also you could not even hear the VW music or video audio in their venue because of the pumping music from MINI. All in all great show, if I have any pics, showing anything else geat I will post them.
I was at the show on Tuesday. Enjoyed the jaunt around Cobo very much.
Mike – As a former 2 time GTI owner, I think VW has finally killed it this time around. Yuck.
I took a few pictures. Not that they show anything that Aaron didn’t already cover, they are a bit higher resolution in case anyone wants to snag one.

I was at the show on Teusday. IF and that is a “IF” MINI produces anything near their concept, I will moving back to VW and the MKV GTI. That concept is worse than the photos I have seen. I hope they crush it. There is nothing about it I liked, headlights to tail lights. Give me back my ’02 S.
Mark –
I’m not sure how much the Traveller features will be incorporated into the ’07 Coop. I am sure more refinement will be seen throughout.
I personally do not like the interior in the Traveller or the 07 spy photo’s. Although from a design stand-point the new interior is stylish, it feels mismatched to the character of the rest of the vehicle.
Does any one know the length of the Traveller concepts? I’ve looked through everything I can find and nothing has this listed.
Randy, thanks for the great pics.
