The automotive press can’t get enough of the upcoming 2008 MINI Clubman. Next week’s AutoExpress features an extremely accurate Clubman Photoshop rendering (they unfortunately call it the Traveller) on the front page with all doors open. There are a few details that they didn’t quite get right in the boot area but otherwise we’re pretty certain that the mock-up is a very good representation of the 2008 MINI Clubman S. The article itself gives a broad overview of the car as well.
Our friends over at Edmund’s Inside Line have also gotten in on the action. They’ve got both stills and video of the Clubman doing some hot weather testing in Death Valley California and have a good recap what is generally known about the car. You can check both out below.

Gabe, thanks for the heads up! The AutoExpress Cover photo, at least it seems to me, gives a good glimpse as to how the final production Clubman may look like in ’08.
Can’t wait for this baby to see the light of day.
Pair of rear hinged doors?
That photoshop job is not cover-worthy. Ick.
The roof looks different on that one? I prefer the nice rounded lines on current mini’s. Wouldn’t mind the extra room though.
Nice of autoexpress to flip that to a registration required link. Grr.

Is autoexpress a respected publication in the uk?
Because to me it seems that all they do is photoshop pictures and report any new speculations. Accuracy does not seem to be a defining charactaristic of the publication…..Though it is intresting, I wouldn’t think to give them a dime of my money
Nice job getting http://www.motoringfile.com referenced in the Edmunds article!!
Guys,
The concept sounds cool. I just hope MINI can pull off the implementation.
Seems like MINI’s doors in the back are an engineering solution looking for a problem. What is wrong with a hatch in a wagon? I have always liked how a hatch is out of your way when you are trying to load things (especially when parallel parked on a street). Regarding 3 vs. 4 doors, I’m also not a big fan of having asymentrical doors. 🙁
Jeffrey
Agree Jeffrey,
Conventional hatch is the best. But for mini.. well, it is just too conventional.. and not innovative enough. They are also moving away from the barn door. Noticed?
Is the Clubman longer, or the Crossover?
