For those of you in markets where the One is available this may be of interest (from Whatcar):
>It turns out, however, that the U.K. will soon feel our pain as the supply of 2006 MINI Ones will run out any day now. WhatCar? reports that there are less than 100 MINI Ones left, and the real kicker is that the all-new 2007 MINI One won’t go on sale until April of next year.

That’s a good way to boost sales dollars 😉
Hmmm – seeing as every MINI can be specc’d until about a week before production and the One’s engine is identical to the Cooper’s with exception to the ECU I wonder how true this statement is? Has anyone got confirmation of this from the dealer? If it is true then it must be due to lack of supply of some ‘One’ specific part – can’t for the life of me think what that might be though…..what does the One have that the Copper does not? R
The Autoblog post has a great string of comments following #5 🙂
I thought the ONE used a 1.4L 4 Cylinder and not a detuned 1.6L?

The engine in the Cooper and One are essentially indentical when they are delivered to the factory.
The R56 however will use a different 1.4L version of the new “Prince” engine.

The only thing I can personally think of is that the One doesn’t come with chrome in the bumpers as standard in some markets, but instead you have to spec a chrome pack. Than again, I’m not so sure the Cooper comes with the chrome as standard in al markets… Also, I think the uphoulstery (sp?) may be different.
