Our good friend Dave Thomas from the Cars.com blog Kicking Tires is live and on the scene at the Detroit Auto Show. This morning his first stop was the MINI display where the US Spec 2007 MINI was getting prepped for its debut. You can see his photos below:

I am in love with the aero kit on the MY Cooper S. LOVE.
so is there JCW UNDER the bonnet?
>so is there JCW UNDER the bonnet?
No just the typical JCW accessories seen before. We’ll see the debut of the 2008 JCW MINI this summer.
I have to agree with Neil.
Biggest news out of Detroit is probably from General Motors and its Chevrolet Division:

Wow. Just, wow. Please bring this car to market, GM, as quick as you can.
Very exciting! I can’t wait to see one in the flesh… ‘er-metal… not to mention get behind the wheel! I’m hearing my local dealership is rumored to be throwing a private party a day or two before their “official release” President’s Day weekend… for those who have order/placed deposits, etc. I hope, I hope, I hope!
We are going to the show this Wednesday for the preview days. I hope to pick up another press kit and other swag MINI gives out before the show opens.

…I really love the black rims,on the yellow MINI…
How about some pics of the american style seats??
Nice – really cool shots of the new mini especially the yellow one with the black rims! I also love the steering wheel shot!
I’ve seen them and they are…. the Euro versions. Not sure if that means we’ll be getting the Euro versions of the flat cushions we’ve had since 2005. Should know i a few weeks if not sooner.
Hey, there’s a pic of the sidewalk seats up on Autoweek. They are different than the ones pictured in the press release photos, but they don’t look too bad. They are similar to what is appearing for the lounge seats in the configurator on MiniUSA.

Actually they’re the English Leather seats – just in a new color.
Car looks great in Mellow Yellow, some new angles on the JCW body kit. Are those rims the 18″ Double Spoke R105’s? I thought this might have been the same car shown in Paris, but it appears to have added carbon trim.

Nice! I really hope we do get the euro versions. I think they look alot better than the american seats. Also from a financial standpoint I think it would make more sense for them to use the same seats here in the US and in Europe.

Ah, thanks. I’m new~ish to mini-fanaticism, so I’d not seen the US English Leather seats.
The suspense of not knowing what kind of seats to order is killing me. Hopefully we’ll have a definitive answer soon. 🙂
As always, great site and thanks for the good info!
Yeah can’t Gabe pull some strings and talk to his super secret spy mini contact to find out about the seats?
Hello guys:
My question has probably alredy been answered somewhere else but does anyone here have any idea if there is going to be a JCW GP down the line with this model. I think that the GP is a great car to own while the newer models are been upgraded. Thoughts? (perhaps 2010?)

Your answer can be found in this previous MF article: <a href="http://motoringfile.com/2006/12/04/minis-future-models-revealed/" rel="nofollow">MINI’s Future Models Revealed</a>
Thanks Gabe!
