Babies and MINIs are indeed compatible. For years now a good number of young families have found that the standard MINI Coupe works just fine with a baby seat in the back. But did you know MINI has one of it’s own? We’re guessing it’s a little pricier than the competition (that pesky Dollar vs Euro probably doesn’t help) but it may be worth a look.

Not available for the US market.
Oh my god. What’s the part number? My customer is looking for exactly this. I didn’t see a part number.
Does this seat have the necessary safety certtifications for the US market?
I’m not sure this is available in the States – is it? The other factor to this is most of the better baby seats are designed to fit both the special car-seat bases that go in the car itself, and the stroller from the same manufacturer – a system. I don’t know if MINI strollers are available here, either. No two systems seem to cross over to any others, and if you have two cars, you look for an extra base so you don’t have to re-anchor when you switch cars. My brand-new grandson just went home from the hospital in his father’s ‘S’, with a well-designed car-seat system, and they even snagged an extra car seat, so they have one per vehicle. When they take it out, it clicks right into the stroller. When I looked into this a few years ago, none of the MINI system baby stuff was available.
Cute, but what are people using for larger kids? Say in the 18-48 month ranges?

Graco makes a pretty cool Simpson racing seat. My kids have this in our GP. Yes, you read correctly, I have a rear seat retro into my GP with two car seats installed. Way more practical.
I say strap them to the front bumper! You’re better off.
I’m guessing this isn’t available in the US since there’s no lap-belt on the seat.

I have been using the Recaro Young Sport for over a month now and my daughter loves it.
another recaro young sport owner here. Before that, we use an infant carrier. Luckily for me, my daughter transitioned from the carrier to the Recaro without having to deal with an awkard rear facing convertible car seat.
The part number listed on the manual(01 29 0 404 654), which is presumably for the manual, does not appear to be in the parts system. That would seem to indicate that it is not available in the USA. The part number for the manual is always on the back cover.
I don’t think this MINI seat is approved for US standards. Britax Marathon for both kids seems to fit well for our MCS– still haven’t found a stroller to fit the boot well though, any suggestions?
As for strollers that fit in the boot of a coupe, one of the Combi brand folding strollers just fits, and also has a car-seat that fits that stroller. We had the ‘S’ out in the parking lot, and test-fitted it before the purchase.
After one trip of lugging a large stroller around. We purchased a $12 folding stroller. It may not be as luxurious looking but it gets the job done and is easier to deal with. 🙂
Peg Perego Aria fits well in the boot.
Gosh Ya’ll – if ‘in only Britney hat known ’bout this!
We use the Peg perego Aria stroller which fits fairly well in the standard MINI boot. We also recommend the Britax Roundabout car seat as one of the best choices in the MINI. The LATCH system used in the Britax makes installing and removing the car seat and absolute breeze. The Roundabout can be used rear/forward facing up to 40 pounds.
We also used the Combi EX travel system and the stroller fits in the boot but it is a much tighter fit because this stroller is longer and narrower than the Peg Perego Aria.
The stroller takes too much space in the MINI. Can’t wait for my son to start walking so we don’t have to be so dependent on carrying a stroller to certain places.
Vanwall,
Would you mind telling me which stroller folds to fit in the boot and which US-approved seat your new grandson is enjoying in the rear seat of the S? I’ll be looking for these types of items within the next year…was worried that I’d have to lose my car to buy a larger one to transport the little one we’re planning on in the new year.
