BMW’s electric car test-bed the MINI E arrived recently in both BMW’s California and New Jersey ports. It’s still unclear as to the exact delivery dates for the first cars but expect that to happen very very shortly. And look for more news on the future BMW’s iProject and how it relates to MINI in the next few days on MF.
+ MINI E Arrives in the US / Revenge o the Electric Car

Sounds like a super MINI!! Perhaps someday improvements in battery range/storage/recharge/size will make this car a no brainer.

So why are there no picts on the MINI E for this post. Just cuz its yellow doesn’t make it electric. ;-)

I saw one getting off the Palisade Parkway North at Englewood (exit 1) as I was getting on. Didn’t have time to take a picture. This was just yesterday, April 14.

This is very exciting news! I can’t wait til the temporary owners begin to take delivery!

Also, now you’ve got me curious about that extra tidbit regarding Project i news ;)

I really hope these do well.

The UK government announched today that by 2011 they will be introducing a scheme to pay people between £2000 and £5000 towards all-electric cars.

That should get manufacturers moving. I just hope the MINI E is over here by then!

It will sure be a sad day when in a year or so these are all taken back and crushed like the EV 1 was. Let’s start the fight now to save them!

This will be different. The EV1 was crushed cause of no-brained decisions to end electric vehicles at GM. The MINI e is the start of a program that will continue.

Good to hear they’re going to willing customers…
