Official Release: The MINI CHALLENGE 2009: Ready, steady, go! At the Hockenheimring next weekend – Starting of the sixth season of the popular Clubsport Series.

The countdown has started: Only a few days until the start of the MINI CHALLENGE 2009. The prelude to the sixth season of the popular club sport series will take place from 17 to 19 April in the framework of the circuit race “ADAC / MCS Prize of the City of Stuttgart” at the Hockenheimring.

The spectators along the route may experience the tradition of exciting motorsport and an impressive field of 38 vehicles. The first race of the season starts on Saturday (April 18) at 12.30 hours, the second Race follows on Sunday (April 19) around 13:50 hours. Each half-hour Races go on Friday (17th April) a free training at 11:50 hours and a Qualifying session to advance at 14:40 hours.

For the MINI CHALLENGE 2009, the event at the Hockenheimring is the first of eight race weekends. A total of 16 scoring runs – never as many as before in the five-year history of the series. In another season, the MINI CHALLENGE still host to Formula 1 (Nurburgring), at the World Touring Car Championship WTCC (Oschersleben), the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix (Nurburgring) and twice at ADAC Masters Weekend (Hockenheim Ring, Saxony). The finale will take place traditionally at the Circuit Trophy at the Salzburgring, Austria. An Exceptional Highlight in the racing calendar this year is the appearance at MINI United (May 22-24), the world’s largest MINI meet. As a venue for the festival, the British Silverstone circuit will serve the MINI CHALLENGE together with thousands of fans celebrating the 50th Birthday of the MINI brand.

All participants in the MINI CHALLENGE 2009, will use the same Race car, a 211-hp MINI John Cooper Works CHALLENGE. Thanks to the technically identical conditions for all the teams and pilots, high-voltage on the race track is always ensured. Thrilling head-to-head Duels are in the MINI CHALLENGE at the same time as close Overtaking.
