It’s official. The app is in the App Store and the system is in the cars. While the usefulness of social media integration might be questionable for some, having maps-enabled, local Google search capability could be quite handy indeed. All the better, you can perform that search with minimal attention away from the road. Or better yet, your passenger can do it. Either way, here’s MINI having some fun introducing that part of the system.

IMO, there is no need to tweet, IM, text, etc when driving. These features should be INOP when the car is in anything else but park. The driver is taking his eyes off the road (to center stack) to read a message, then scrolling to google location – it’s a safety issue.

Can Mini connect be setup for voice command and text speech (and system reading text back to driver)? If so, well maybe but IMO it’s still a safety issue and distraction.

Funny commercial – now Android – please!

Mini connected is really cool. Is there any way I can install it on my 2009
JCW w/Nav?……thanks Paul H
