MINI not only released photos and the press release this week for the new Paceman but the specifications as well. They paint a picture of a car that is about 20 lbs lighter than the Countryman and essentially the same length. Like the Countryman the Paceman could either be considered a relatively heavy MINI (saddled with the same power outputs) or a very light crossover.
The numbers show a car that shouldn’t be all that different from the Countryman in performance and feel. Yet we’re hearing that’s exactly what they are. We’ll know more once we drive the car this fall. But until then check out the numbers after the break.

That is really funny. 🙂 I didn’t know what you were talking about at first, but when I went up to look at the visual design spec, I saw it! haha.

Gabe / Nathaniel — Any interior shots yet? Exterior looks awesome. Anxious to see the remake of the interior door panels. MotorTrend has a little better picture though not the full door. Thanks!

I posted a comment on the PacemanVideo page. Here it is again in case you missed it.
There is an old saying: “… if you need to design and build something useful, don’t hesitate making it beautiful…” I think the Countryman/Paceman models make business sense, but could use some fine tuning.

I don’t believe that headlight matches the overall design and looses that aggressive look. Your concept really makes the hood bulkier and really reveals how “fatter” this car is compare to the R56 and especially the R50-53.

Am I reading this right? The Cooper Paceman is faster 0-62mph than the S?

You are. It’s wrong. It’s now right. And it’s slow.

Anyone else think the back end looks like a guy with his bottom lip stuck out?

Not as of yet. When we have them, we’ll share them.

This is why you don’t have a career in automotive design languange

And apparently you do?
