The JCW aero-kit, a visual preview of the 2015 MINI JCW has hit showrooms in the past few weeks. The option is part of the JCW exterior pack and brings back the classic Chili Red color the MINI range.
It’s available on both the Cooper and Cooper S and foreshadows the 2015 JCW look.
Have your own photos of the new JCW aero kit? Post them below or @motoringfile on Twitter or Instagram.

I foresee the LCI fixing this look. I’m trying to get excited about it, but that lower intake just is to protrude-y. Maybe it will grow on me.

Hopefully the JCW will speak with performance rather than looks. I’m about to pick up a ’15 R58 or a used GP so I’m sure the new JCW will be awesome enough to make me want one because that’s the way things work :-)

The next F56 JCW is going to blow the doors off the R56 GP. 230+ HP and 250+ foot pounds of torque. It will easily be the fastest mini yet, by a large margin.

It is a Cooper with JCW Exterior package. MINI offered this on Coopers with the Aero Kit (Gen1) and JCW Exterior (Gen2) as well. Not something you see often, which makes it interesting.

When will Mini’s BYO section be updated to include this? And are they going to fix the problem where I can’t add the park assist to the wired upgrade pack?

I thought to check the configurator but it wasn’t up but I decided to play anyway and discovered that the spoiler option is no longer available on the MCS. Any idea what’s happening with this?

Just custom ordered my f56 Oct 30th and got the John cooper works spoiler with it, but I too noticed recently that it is no longer on the build site

Reserving final judgement until I see it in person but based on the photos, I hate the front end… yuck. rear is just OK. And not related to this post but I still can’t get over those large rear taillights.

The new tail lights look especially bad on black cars IMO. Saw a MCS today in a nice silver and it was just OK, but then later today a MCS in black and yuck.

Black wheels on a car look terrible.. This Mini (yes, I spelled it as Mni and not the lame way of MINI) looks bad enough without making it look worse with black wheels. I am The Car Expert.

Tell that to the tens of thousands of MINI owners that black wheels look terrible, including the ones on my F58 JCW Coupe. I would guess that you’re in the minority with that view. To each his own. And like most everyone out there,I’ll use MINI for the generations since 2001 & Mini for the Classic. You’re probably the only be pattng yourself on the back as a self proclaimed ‘Car Expert’.

If I was hiring a new employee and for the interview to get the job they drove up with a car with black wheels, I would tell them I could not hire them because if they showed such poor judgement with such a basic choice as what looks good or bad on a car they could not be trusted working for me, not even in the mail room.

Or they don’t want chrome because it looks
-always dirty
-bling
-too much money
-not enough sense

No
need to put people down over their style choices, especially from a car that used to be all about customization. Some people like black wheels and less tacky chrome, and more power to them for expressing their personality in the vehicle they drive. Expert on what you like, maybe, but not on cars or the people that drive them. Move on

At the risk of being told not to feed the troll again, I think there are times when black wheels are the wrong choice. I think a lot of the Motoringfile/WRR team are pro black. Deblinging cars seems to be a trend at the moment. I think the murdered out look has passed at least, but some people still prefer an understated look, going for a more sporty/hard/race look. For me though white wheels and chrome will always be right for MINIs. My MINI has white wheels and my other Mini also has white wheels with a chrome hubcap. See what I did there car expert? ????

I do see KLF23.. you have one “new, fake, BMW” Mini and you also have one “real” Mini..

The readers of this board seem to treat the spelling of MINI like it is is being used in a court of law or that if they type 2010 Mini that a reader may think they have a 2010 Austin Mini maybe

If you carry on that grandiose logic of the spelling of a car though, why did you say: My MINI has white wheels and my other Mini also has white wheels with a chrome hubcap.

Following how people type here, not that I agree with it at all, with the capital letters used so silly, isn’t the word “other” before the word “Mini” unnecessary. Following the silliness of the whole MINI spelling, wouldn’t it read, not that I agree with it of course: My MINI has white wheels and my Mini also has white wheels with a chrome hubcap.

Did you mean apologise or apologize? Are you from the UK?

Apologize is the preferred spelling in American and Canadian English, and apologise is preferred in varieties of English from outside North America. This is the case despite the fact that apologize is the original form and was once standard even in British English (and is still used by some British publishers).

I am not just The Car Expert. I am The English Expert also.

On my 1st MINI…a 2008 Pepper White MCS, I ordered it with white wheels (forgot the name of them). Beside not matching the Pepper White body color, I found that to keep them looking good, I would have to clean them almost on a daily basis per the brake dust & other road grime.

Within 18 months, i had opted for some great looking BLACK wheels from Tire Rack & never looked back!!!! Looked much better with the all Pepper White body (including the roof). So when I moved on to my current 2012 Spicy Orange with black roof JCW Coupe, having black wheels was a no brainer along with blacking out all of the chrome! YEA!!!

I definitely agree that black wheels are much easier to keep looking good as they hide the dirt. The same with black cars. I do clean my wheels after most drives to keep them nice.

I like the way that the white rims contrast and stand out from the tyres. I would have chosen black wheels with Pepper White for the same reason that they contrast against the paint.

My MINI is Chili Red (I don’t think Gabe likes Chili Red, but it’s still my favourite). My Moke has black wheels. There certainly are times when they look best. Spicy Orange looks great with black wheels.

I see more black wheels than white on the road around here, so white is a bit more original as well. I know I’m a dying breed with my white wheels and chrome.

Troll: You don’t understand the meaning of the word ‘fact’. You are merely stating an opinion. Unless you are the one forced to buy black wheels for everyone, I think it’s time to move on.

Ok, I have a major beef with JCW emblems, steering wheels and now the aero kit being included as options for MINI models that are not JCW. Why are you doing that MINI? This is not logical!

BMW, Mercedes and Audi have done this for years. In fact BMW M is thought of as a company within a company at BMW and actually profits from every M Sport package and M Brakes that are optioned in a regular BMW. These profits are funneled back into the subsidiary and are used to develop new cars and products. Basically they look at it as a necessary evil and BMW looks at it as a way to sell more cars. MINI and JCW likely have a similar approach.

Did you mean that MINI and JCW have a similar approach?.. Because if you did not say MINI and JCW but rather said Mini and JCW do you think that readers may have thought you meant British Leyland Mini and JCW?

I deleted it in spite of being such a good comment as I was not 100% sure if I wanted to say what I said.. Well when I deleted it, it did go away but then now I see that it shows up under a post by a guest.

That is why I did not say: I am The Car Expert because I never did give myself final approval for the post but I am indeed The Car Expert.

I actually own a JCW MINI, and a Mini Mayfair that I rebuilt from the ground up, every bolt. So yeah – there is a difference between MINI and Mini, and I have no problem using all caps for one and not all caps for the other.

I still don’t like it in the same way I don’t like the chin on the S. The cooper body kit still seems the best of the three.

Are those 17″ wheels? They look too small. Maybe it’s the 4×4 ride height.

Those are 17s and that car is set up for shipping with spacers still in.

Ugh. Your gallery plugin does not work properly on iOS.

It always has until this moment.

JCW cooper?

It is a Cooper with JCW Exterior package. MINI offered this on Coopers with the Aero Kit (Gen1) and JCW Exterior (Gen2) as well. Not something you see often, which makes it interesting.

…why does this remind me of a Toyota 4Runner….

Something to do with the snowplow?

Im sure i saw the new jcw aero kit the other week on a pepper white 🙂 i recognised the front air intakes straight away :)

I am indeed The Car Expert.

You are totally correct of course car expert. I apologise for the addition of the word ‘ other’.

I did not know that! And this puts it in perspective! Thank you!

Did you mean that MINI and JCW have a similar approach?.. Because if you did not say MINI and JCW but rather said Mini and JCW do you think that readers may have thought you meant British Leyland Mini and JCW?

You forgot to say you are the car expert.

Boom #selfupvote

He Is The Upvote Expert.

I actually own a JCW MINI, and a Mini Mayfair that I rebuilt from the ground up, every bolt. So yeah – there is a difference between MINI and Mini, and I have no problem using all caps for one and not all caps for the other.

That’s the way to do it – from the ground up – I bet it’s a stunner!

No SideSkirt Air Damns?
Am I saying that correctly?
But without the SideSkirts, it looks completly bland/naked! JMO!

Best looking JCW exterior package in the Mid-West Region! The sharpest looking wheel ever on a MINI!

I could see myself putting on Cooper bumpers to a fJCW.

Or the new Clubman front bumper if it looks like the concept.

Personally, I think that MINI is doing horrible things with body accent design. But for those not in the know, the box-like chin does have a history in performance. It was on the FIAT-Abarth 850TC Berlina. In that case, for an oil cooler, not an intercooler.
