Last week MINI finally began the launch process for the 2015 JCW. First up was the European launch where a handful of journalists from the UK and Europe had a chance to drive identically specced automatic JCWs (with those awful and awfully small looking 17″ wheels) around the island of Mallorca and the Circuito RennArena. While our first full drive and review won’t be happening a bit, we wanted to bring you the full collection of photos from the event. They are our best look yet of the new JCW and its gorgeous exclusive green paint.
As we mentioned in the video post of the same event, make note of those wheels. If you’re getting a JCW we implore you to either choose the 18″ wheels or at least get these 17″ wheels in the optional black. The world will be a better place.

Interior seems pretty nice.

Wow those are ugly wheels and look super tiny on the F56. The whole exterior – I just dislike immensely. Not knocking on anyone else buying this car, but sadly it’s just not for me I guess.

Reminders me of these: http://i.imgur.com/fysLYmO.jpg

The overbite of the F generation annoys me. Minis should be flat in the front!

How can Mini consistently make such bad looking wheels, and BMW consistently make such nice looking wheels? This is the same company, isn’t it?

Many of the wheel choices for the model years 2002 – 2006 were ok. The current F56 Base Cooper 15″ wheels not only look horrible but feel cheap. They are the worst looking 15″ Wheels that MINI has ever made under BMW.

I really like my 16″ Black Victory Spoke Wheels on my F56 S Cooper. The Cosmos Spoke Wheels are nice too.

It would have be nice if MINI had kept the classic S-Lites from 2002-2007. The Crown Spokes were also nice (2006 – 2011).

I liked the R82 8-Spoke Design Light 15″ Alloy Wheels that were on my 2004 R50.

Link to all the wheel/rims MINI has had since 2001/2002 Launch.

Just somehow very tame looking. I guess it’s the wheels. The JCW should have a healthy dose of visual aggression to set it off from the lesser models. This just looks like a normal MINI with a red roof.

Same thing that people have been saying about JCW for the past 12 years!

I’m trying. I’m really trying. I just can’t get past those tail lights. I’m just about over the fish face. So, maybe some year. (Sigh)

Yes the wheels aren’t that pretty. But I can’t count the number of people I’ve talked to who have put larger wheels with lower profile tires on the car, and done other things to suspension, to make the wheel gap look smaller. Then they complain of “torque steer” (It’s not that, it’s a lack of compliance on the too short tire side wall, or really screwed up scrub radius via too wide tires and wheel spacer) and “skipping” in turns on anything but a very smooth road. Chasing suspension tuning via vehicles aesthetics is a fools errand, one done by many.

It’s not just that they are not pretty they look too small for the car. Considering that this supposed to be the top performance version that’s a bit hard to swallow.

You want to be fast or want to look fast?

Just noticed that the jcw has no front fog lights, interesting. I’m definitely not a fan of this color scheme, still looks like a Christmas tree to me

They had to remove them to allow for an extra radiator on the left side.

I’m sure MINI could have done something to add fogs. Maybe external type driving lights which would be fogs.

With the broader range of LEDs you don’t really need them.

Sorry, disagree. Fogs are designed (placed) to be lower, i.e. under layer of fog – closer to ground. LED low beams (headlamps) won’t help and may make it worse due to reflect back.

Yup, BRG only looks good with a white or silver roof. Red mirror caps – aaahh – if it was a black roof then IMO it would be ok.

No Fogs, a deal breaker unless person was only driving as a track car and not a daily driver.
