MINI USA is setting the stage for an important US debut during Climate Week NYC, an annual event celebrating climate initiatives. Their debut is the much-anticipated North American premiere of the all-new MINI Countryman Electric, making its initial appearance on U.S. soil following its global unveiling at the IAA Mobility event in Munich. More specifically its the all electric MINI Countryman E.
Scheduled to hit American driveways in the fall of 2024, this evolution of the MINI family’s largest model is a significant new model in the brand’s pivot into a full electric family of vehicles.
The electric Countryman is part of the event titled “Driving Forward: The Transformation of Future Mobility,” hosted by URBAN-X. This platform, powered by MINI, nurtures early-stage startups dedicated to crafting climate-friendly technology solutions, aimed at creating cities that are more sustainable, livable, and resilient.
This addition to the MINI lineup, the all-new MINI Countryman Electric, boasts a digitally enhanced ecosystem, heightened practicality, an electrified powertrain that maintains the “fun to drive” essence and a new futuristic design while still embracing the iconic MINI charm. It will be joined by the new BMW CE-04 electric scooter and the BMW iX5 Hydrogen prototype, showcasing the company’s work in electric and hydrogen technology for future production vehicles.
The URBAN-X panel features an impressive line-up, including Alexander Bilgeri, BMW Group Vice President of Corporate Communications for Human Resources, Production, Purchasing, and Sustainability. Together with a cadre of visionary startups and innovators, the session delves deep into the future of mobility. Bilgeri will unveil the BMW Group’s sustainability strategy and outline the company’s ambitious plans to achieve its decarbonization goals by 2050.
The details, scarce as they are in the design, get ‘lost in the gloss’. I’m of the opinion that these EV models desperately need bright roofs for visual interest.
What is stealing the show for me are those wheels. Please tell me they’re 17s so I can slap them on the F66.
Is that a new shade of BRG? When the roof is in black is disguised that side panel somewhat.
