We’ve got some more information for you on the Countryman Dakar race car. As you can see in the photo above, the car is clearly capable of amazing off-road performance. Want more? You can see a 3D rendering of the car here, get the PDF press release here, and a couple new photos after the break.

I am thinking of engineering a suspension system for the Countryman that would allow for increased wheel travel and fitment of larger tire/wheel combo (think 30″ tall tire on 15-16″ wheel. Please let me know if you would be interested.

516lbs of torque???!! Holy crap.

Should be a lot of fun to watch a Dakar racer dressed up as a MINI. Love watching as much of the Dakar race as I can.

Says it has 3000cc displacement. What engine is this?

KOOL!

I heard it’s a BMW 3.0l diesel. 400+HP and a bucket load of torque. This would be a fun one to drive!

Wonder if anyone’s going to come to market with lift kits for an actual Countryman…

Can’t wait to watch it in action…just wish the Dakar was still…well, in Dakar…stupid terrorists!

It’s virtually a BMW X3 with a MINI body….

wow, i was definitely favoring the wrc version over this until about a minute ago…

Until I saw the picture of the R60 air born I was not at all interested in WRC. Now I’m interested.

I drove the 6 cylinder BMW Diesel and beleive u me that it was a hell of a ride imagine another 100 lbs of torque whoa!! Im in

Greg,
This is a tube frame race car. Easy to put MINI, X3, Mitsubishi, whatever body on it.

3.0L racing diesel engine under the bonnet. Same one they have been developing for several years in the Dakar racers.

Ronald,
This is a Dakar racer. Much different than the WRC racer. The WRC is production chassis based.

NEED FULL SCREEN HI RES IMAGE OF FLYING MINI!! Sorry, caps crazy this morning…
