Carrozzeria Castagna’s Woody Clubman

Castagna has been creating MINI wagons longer than MINI has been at it. So it would make sense they’re the first to create a “woody kit” for the new Clubman. The name? The MINI Woody Passion Kit. Just rolls off the tongue doesn’t it? You can read more below:

Well, that’s two nice cars ruined.

  • Bob H.

I’m with Kurt on this one. You have to wonder, “What were they thinking?”….

  • Albert Martin

Yuck. From a distance it looks like someone scribbled with a crayon all over the Clubman. The Fiat looks nicer … not my style though … the Clubman however looks atrocious.

  • b4mmy

^^^ lol, just what I was thinking! Looks like someone drew all over the car. And the 500 actually looks better :)

  • rhawth99

    Yuck!

  • c4

Castagna should re-consider their business strategy and start building horse carriages.

  • c4

The “woody” kit pieces in the Clubman look cheap and tacky. Something that you would buy at the automotive section in Kmart..

  • MeanMrMstrd

KMart, hell I was thinking J.C. Whitney Catalog. When I was a kid we used to yell this at woody drivers… “Hey mister, you forgot to take your car outta the crate!”

  • MINIme

I like the idea of a Woody Wagon, but this looks like someone applied some of that RealTree camo duct tape to the car. Terrible!

  • korby

    Where is the wood ?

  • http://www.smartboxusa.com/chicago GSKChicago

Conceptually sounds interesting – reality is it doesn’t look good. Sadly.

  • http://whydev.com aaron

Considering that the picture of the 500 is just a rendering, I’m not so optimistic that the execution will live up to the concept after seeing the Clubman.

  • c4

MinSpeed in Florida is working on custom made woody kits for the Clubman. I have not seen them yet, but knowing Pete Foglia I am sure they are going to be so much better than this junk from Castagna.

  • Vanwall

I can do without the zebra-wood look, but a nice ash might do.

  • http://www.commonwealth.nu fdavid

    Ouch!!!

  • Holly Aldis

Ugh! I can’t imagine putting that on my CR Clubman. It’s beautiful as designed. Why ruin a beautiful car?

  • GregW

And this will only be the start of customiser’s creations. There is already a big market in bling pieces for MINI from Autotecnica. See http://www.ptboutique.com for MINI add-on chrome.

  • glangford

Agree, that looks horrible. What kind of wood looks like that??? They could have at least made the wood trim look like wood!!

  • Vanwall

The wood looks like zebra-wood, a very expensive status symbol. Too much, too soon.

  • http://www.commonwealth.nu fdavid

The “civic” factor on the MINI brand is starting to worry me lately.

  • Ketan

What a way to ruin a Clubman.

  • c4

I think Castagna did a much better job at converting R50/R53 hardtops to “Clubman” wagons. They should not be allowed near a R55, however.

  • GregW

Now all we need is roof racks and surboard and Al Jardine to drive one!.

  • RichM

It needs to look more like a classic ’32 Ford woody wagon. Preferably BRG, and it absolutely would have to have a surfboard on top!

  • pete

And sadly the “civic” factor is much better compared to the new mini.

The Type R and the Si are much more track friendly

  • Braden

Wow this kit is super ugly IMO. I looks very cheap and Pep Boys tacky, really brings the brand down. Back to the drawing board Castagna, and fire your designers.

  • http://www.lilcoopr.com lilcoopr

Check out this version of the Clubman with wood… Much much better IMHO :D

It’s called the “Aznom Chateau Clubman S”
