MotoringFile 2007 MCS (JCW) For Sale Sold!

(Apologies for the personal/site news but this may interest a few of you) Yes it’s official, I’m selling my MINI. Due to some new needs and some shifting priorities I’ve decided to sell my fully loaded 2007 MINI Cooper S with almost every conceivable factory and JCW option.

The car would be over $38,000 to replicate with all accessories but with only 10,000 miles I’m selling it for $30,000. While I could probably get a more for the car, I would rather pass on a great car to an MF reader who will enjoy it as much as I have for a really fair price.

So if you’re interested, here’s the full run-down of options and accessories on the car:

Exterior:

  • Astro Black Body Color $450
  • Body Color Roof/Mirrors $0
  • White Turn Signals $100

Packages:

  • Premium Package $1,400: Automatic AC, Dual Pane Panoramic Sunroof, On-Board Computer, 3-Spoke w/Cruise and Multifunction, Leather Sport Wheel w/Multifunction
  • Sport Package $1,400: Dynamic Stability Control, Front Fog Lamps, Xenon Headlamps w/Power Wash, 17″ Crown-Spoke (all-seasons / summer tires are on the OZs as pictured), No Bonnet Stripes

  • Cold Weather $500: Heated Seats, Heated washer jets, Power-fold mirrors

Performance:

  • Standard Suspension STD (JCW Suspension currently on the car – STD suspension in a box)
  • Front Fog Lamps STD
  • Rear Fog Lamp $100
  • Limited Slip Differential $500
  • 6-Speed Getrag Manual STD

Interior/Cockpit:

  • Sport Seats STD

  • MINI Pinstripe cloth floor mats $105
  • MINI Rubber floor mats $85

JCW Accessories (original OEM price without installation shown):

  • JCW Aerokit: $1595

  • JCW Engine Kit: $2100 (installed at the 4,000 mile mark)
  • JCW Shift Knob: $129
  • JCW Steering Wheel: $585
  • JCW Side Scuttle: $155
  • JCW Leather shift knob gaiter $45
  • JCW Leather e-brake gaiter $45

Tires and Wheels:

  • Silver 18″ OZ Ultraleggeras (17lbs) $1,340 – I’ll throw in one slightly bent but repairable Ultraleggera as well
  • 215/40ZR-18 Kumho Ecsta SPTs (two months old) $464
  • Silver 17″ Crown-Spokes
  • 205/45 – 17 OEM All-Seasons

This is the car that has been closely associated with this site for over a year and has been featured in a handful of reviews on the site. Here are the more notable ones:

The car is located in Chicago and about 20 minutes away from Ohare if you’d not from the area and need to fly in. If you’re interested please email me via the contact form found here.

….must….buy….lottery ticket…

I’ve never really wanted to own a black vehicle, but as I’ve said before Gabe…your car is stunning.

Wow, finally pulled the trigger did we? No matter how you look at it, it’s a tough decision to make and I applaud you for having the gumption to do it. Maybe we’ll see you flying around the Dragon in a baby seat equipped R60 soon enough.

Good luck and all the best – James

Upgrading to a 2009 factory JCW, or secretly coming back to an R53????????

Gabe has a child now;

Minivan!

But seriously, a BMW 5 series wagon, or (this is a long shot), a JCW Clubman.

He’s getting an M version of the X6. LOL!

Good luck with the sale, Gabe. Let us know what you really end up with.

Best of luck with your next vehicle Gabe!

No I’m actually going to be without a car for a little while. Not quite sure what I’ll get eventually. I’m going to enjoy my 3 series and public transportation.

I thought Gabe was gaga over the 135i? Great car though… gotta love it!

I thought about it but I don’t have a huge need for one right now. Probably in the future though.

But seriously, a BMW 5 series wagon, or (this is a long shot), a JCW Clubman.

JCW Clubman would be great but again not a huge need for something that would ultimately be $40k equipped the way I’d want.

In a heartbeat would buy this car from you Gabe if I had any room remaining in my garage, great price and a very sharp car.

My condolences. I just sold my 2005 MCS and let it go for only $19K. I am still sick over it.

I just keep telling myself, “It’s just a hunk of metal…”

That’s right – I should have put that in there. Signed by the builder! Honestly that’s one of those little things that has made it so hard to part with this car. It’s absolutely perfect and everything I’ve ever wanted in a MINI. I just keep telling myself that I can always get another down the road.

JonPD Sep 29th, 2008 Link

I am more than sure Billy would be happy to help put another together for you Gabe. I have to say yours is still one of the best looking R56’s that I’ve seen. Can only imagine how difficult this will be to part with.

The rust under the door sills was an R53 thing. Besides, this one has been garaged since the day it was brought home. It’s seen very little moisture.

The engine compartment looks just like any other JCW engine kit. Big airbox and JCW individually numbered plaque on the block.

You know $30,000 is about £16,600 here in the UK, little over the starting price for a bog standard Cooper S – if it was RHD it would be a bargain worth shipping over the pond!

Gabe, any steps towards saving some cash in transportation expenses are surely a welcome thing in this economy.

I would think a Clubman would be a good sensible choice in the future but if you have the “luxury” of good public transportation and can get by with just one vehicle, I think it is a good idea.

Miami unfortunately lacks a developed public transportation infrastructure and any household with at least 3 people must have 2 cars to move around.

Best of luck with the sale.

Gabe, your MINI is truly a stunning car. It really is so well put together. Every choice you made was spot on.

It is SHOCKING how much of a difference your after market rims make in the look of the car versus the winter rims you run on your car. Night and day difference! Aside from the handling differences.

Good luck on the sale.

Gabe, good luck with the sale. The car is a beaut. Just FYI, the design flaw that caused the rust issues for the first generation MINI’s has not been corrected on the new models. You may want to check under the sills, just for $hits and giggles, even though your car hasn’t seen a lot of moisture and has been garaged, I’m sure it’s been washed frequently, and my bet is you will have moisture under the sills. Again, best of luck with the sale.

Gabe, I live in Chicago, and maybe very interested. I have been looking at all the local dealers this week, but nothing can hold a candle to this. My primary car was recently totaled by a negligent driver and owning a black mini has been a dream of mine for some time. I am anticipating a payoff for my previous car this week. Please let me know if it is still available, and if so, shoot me a message. - Corey

ReplyReply
Michael Oct 1st, 2008 Link

Gabe’s next ride will be something substantial…. I anticipate something with four wheels and a sport suspension. It may even have an engine with a bump up in performance (from the factory). Maybe it will even have navigation and heated seats for those cold Chicago winters. Seating in the rear to accommodate a child seat and have room for an an adult as well. The real question you should be asking is how many doors does it have! LOL :)

Still holding onto my April 2002 R50 MCS – already 6.5 yrs old and still rumbling along. It has been (and still is) very reliable, flexible plus has that extra horsepower when you need it. I’ve only had to replace a few trim pieces, battery, tyres and control arm bushes. Good fuel economy at 7L/100km (33.6 mpg).

I’m not looking at getting rid of it soon but want to get a second cheap vehicle to keep the mileage down. Have heard that the JCW uses more gas though and can be bought second hand generally for a good price.

All the best with your sale.

Gabe,

I am very interested in your car; I am currently in Iraq. I am due back in November. I am an Illinois resident and will be flying back there in November from San Diego once I return. I would be back Illinois the third or fourth week of November to pick the car up. How much of a deposit would you require to hold the car until I return. This is a serious offer; I have a 09 JCW on order right now but would drop my order in a heartbeat to take the car off of your hands. Please let me know.

Congrats to Lance! I am confident he will not regret it. I stop by at Patrick MINI last weekend and saw a JCW MINI ; not fully loaded like non leather seat, non-navigation etc. and the MSRP is already $32,000! It’s by no means no near to Gabe’s car.

Greg,

Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate the support of those who those who extend it. It’s often a hard pill to swallow when some folks back home are a little less than supportive. I’ve been in the Marine Corps for the past seventeen and a half years now and enjoy what I do on a daily basis. I am very much looking forward to getting back home for more than a couple reasons now. I look forward to the cross country drive in the Mini. It is going to be a pleasure being a part of such a great family of supporters. I look forward to many more articles and updates via this forum.

I invite ALL M.F. people to attend the next one 6/6/09 but Lance if you bring your new Mini I will personally pay for your hotel room as well as dinner at the Pub for you and your companion.
